yes, but ALL nu-metal bands use exactly the same sounds with their guitars. EXACTLY. There is no fluctuation in the guitar sounds at all. I don't play guitar though, so who knows. All I know is they play the same chord, on the same pedal, in every song, on every cd, in every single band. It's horrible. THAT is a hugely refining difference between what metal IS and what nu-metal is. Almost as much as the hip-hop influence.

This is a song about NuMetal, download it if you can be bothered it is worth a chuckle.

1 Cyprus Hill + 1 industrial drill
Do the math you're not dumb
it's a crap sounding sum
With an outcome that equals
a bunch of sad sequels
It's like mixing techno up
with The Beatles
It just doesn't go
so don't say "Hey Ho"
Because an Aussie Limp Bizkit
is a soggy Sao
I'm not sure who started
this shit genre first
But one thing's for sure
it wasn't Fred fucking Durst
So please... stop... metal...
has no place with Hip Hop
I remember Steve Tyler and Run DMC
That's why all of this shit
just sounds so old to me
It's been done it's not fun
it's passé` it's been
You're just reinventing
Rage Against The Machine
Leave Metal for the bangers;
leave Rap for the Homies
"Now Mr Durst as rehersed could you
put your cap on back to front
So the visor don't bump my tum tum
when you fucking blow me!"
So please... stop... metal...
has no place with Hip Hop
"I wish I did more drugs,
I wish I slept with more girls,
I wish you'd all go and get fucked."

I wish you'd all go and get fucked."

But i agree with somw of what your saying. i would suppose the lower end of nu-metal would possibly fit into the mocking genre title "Cookie Cutter Metal". I'm not a terribly huge fan of new music, at least not new metal.
