Hey,

I have finally gotten a script that will check all links to external server vids. This means that the server will know who's naughty or nice.

The script will be run every day, probably starting at about 3am or so. If your link is bad 7 days in a row, it will be automatically deleted. Why 7 days? Some people only run their server on the weekend, so I don't want to kill them every week.

The script should do its regular checking starting this weekend. That means by next week, there will be lots less dead links in the database. Whoo hoo!! ^_^

I'm curious how this will effect the numbers...
Videos hosted, videos posted, that sort of thing.
Might it be possible to get an update once it does its thing so we can see how large the effect is?

I'm guessing this will be mightily big this first time....

So far, of the 2150 links checked, only 840 are "200 - OK". 400 are "404 - File Not Found" and 550 servers did not respond.

It seems that most are not good, or maybe around 50% are good.

. I think its a great idea, however . . tuesday's seem to be the weakest day for things to happen and some people don't actually see things until Sunday Evening - when things are quiet ^^

Speaking of cleansing, some DBZ retard by the name of King_Goku uploaded THREE different sized versions of the intro to Love Hina Again, a licensed anime, to the Donut, which I would hope is a bannable offense.

Nevertheless, you will probably want to remove those as quickly as possible, Phade.

That's cause I nuked the local links. I have to wait for Phade to deal with the other ones though.

Phade your login stuff still doesn't verify my working ftp links... if you're gonna delete my links I am gonna be quite

... to the max.

You still can't enter the ftp://login:pass@ip/file.mpg stuff without it erroring... maybe you should fix that before you implement this 7 day rule.

My cheater way around this issue:
1) make an indirect link
2) edit the link and add in the ftp
3) edit the link again because it doesn't save for some reason
4) link is saved as specified above and works fine (though server claims it's all broken)

For archival purposes, wouldn't it be better if the links were say "moved" to a designated "broken links" area?
