tragic romance idea

Um...I wouldn't consider any of the 'romances' in Gundam Wing to be tragic, definitely not Duo (since he ends up with her at the end of the movie - uncut version) and they only have angst when they first meet. You *could* use that out of context, though, if you just want scenes of guys and girls fighting each other.

As for anime with tragic romances...good theme. VHD has been used a lot lately, but it would definitely fit here. I'd say Inuyasha would work, but you might use the Kikyo killing him theme and him attacking her more than just Kagome spying on the two of them (a triangle is harder to pull off than a simple couple). If you have the Rurouni Kenshin movie (Samurai X being the title - not the ovas), you can use the main 'bad guy' and Tomoe (common name), it's one of those 'die in your love's arms' type deals. And then there's Shisho and Yumi from Rurouni Kenshin - Kyoto arc that has another tragic end (though they do meet up in hell to celebrate).

If you're just looking for related 'sad' scenes, you could use the part from YYH where Yukina goes back to the ice mountain (Kuwabara's expression is good for the theme). And there's Magic Knight Rayearth with Zagato and Emerade - another 'die in your arms' pairing. Also good would be Angel Sanctuary's Setsuna/Sarah - 'died in your arms' really comes out here. If you were using game footage I'd point out Rose/Zieg from Legend of Dragoon since it's angsty. And you could get a number of tragic pairings from NightWalker.

Ack! I have to fix my statement about Gundam Wing. You could use the Treize/Une pairing since she gets put in a coma for him, and there's a rather romantic/sad scene or two relating to what happened and him at her bedside. ^_^;

wow thats a lot of great suggestions. now if only i had money. i was planning on using mostly Kikiyo and Inuyasha then the triangle of all 3 of them. kikiyo,inuyasha,kagome. is great to see you posting again.

Man, Princess Tutu is full of tragic romance! Ruu wants Mute, but he only has eyes for Princess Tutu. But if Princess Tutu confesses her love, she'll disappear in a flash of light. And Fakir is just plain angsty the whole way through...

Yeah, but she has the psycho personality (destroying the colonies to get the Gundam pilots to give up - Heero) as well as the soft side. And they're both created to make her just what Treize wants. When he wants a warrior she's crazy/cruel, when he says to have more restraint, she turns super softy. And he *does* ask Zechs to save her, so he feels something for her whether it's love or not. ^_^ I don't like either of them, though, so it doesn't make much difference to me.
