Weel, I did a topic of this for anime soundtracks and was able to get som good CD soundtracks because of it.
Now, what are your faavorite movie soundtracks?
Mine would have to be Blackhawk Down, Resident Evil, and Tears of the Sun.

I can't believe that I'm saying this, but I still do like the Titanic soundtrack. As horrible as the movie is, James Cameron is a great composer. Other than that--uhm--anything by John Williams. Oh, and this isn't a soundtrack, per se, but the Star Wars soundtrack was inspired by Holst's "The Planets," which is definitely my favorite piece of classical music.

Personally I've loved the orchestrated works on Interview With a Vampire. I also love John Davis so I enjoyed the Queen of the Damned soundtrack.
Some others I enjoy are
