Open Windows Media Player, go to 'tools' 'options' and 'network' - then deselect any you don't want to be used when streaming media.

[This works for wmp 9, the titles may be changed for other versions, but you should still have the same sort of options.]

Ok i tried that, but still no luck *destroys windows media player* Man, you'd think they would have a part that says "Check this is you would like to have windows media player play audio or video on the internet" but they don't. Basically, it didn't work. *thinks of a way to fix it* hmm.... too hard... i'll have to check on it, someone should know.

If you unchecked all the boxes it shouldn't be able to stream anything. The only other thing I can think of would be to check your internet options - advanced and see what settings you have for online multimedia.

How do I download AMVs at all?! Newbie in distress!!

Post by nerdyalice » Sat Oct 11, 2003 1:13 pm

I found the site for the video I wanted to download, and the link said "Click here to download." I did, of course, and nothing happened. Help! I tried right-clicking and hitting "save target as" but when I pulled it up in my media player, all I got was audio. Help! What am I supposed to do?

What program did you use? If it's WMP, WMP attempt to find the right video codec, however you might try looking at this thread:

Thanks for gettin me Mozilla. This is so great. No I don't have to keep using Internet Explorer. Geez, to think bill gates can't make Internet Explorer good, but a smaller company can me something 10x better.
