Arnold was the best option for California. While Tom McClintock should really have been put in charge, Arnold is liberal enough to be acceptable to the moderate and liberal Californians, while pointing the government into the proper direction. Basically, Arnold is a stepping stone towards a more rational and less obtrusive state government in California.
Remember, Ronald Reagan was another actor who had far less government experience, but he brought the Californian economy back up to speed by the end of his second term because he believed in a free market economy.

I think Thomas Jefferson would have approved. He thought government should be overthrown about every 20 years and you need to put a new one in place. Long standing governments lead to corruption and complacency. "The tree of liberty needs to be nurtured by the blood of patriots." And that's the context he meant that as. Anybody who says that patriotism is about keeping the standing government in power is wrong and is sadly misinformed.
Alexander Hamilton would argue this is why power needs to be kept in the hands of the elite. People need to be protected from themselves. We just didn't allow Davis to have the executive perogative he needed. Uh, read the Federalist Papers if you want.
The irony being that is the Democrats (Jeffersonians) who were thrown out of power by the Republicans (Hamiltonians). The Democrats argued against the recall using Hamiltonian ideas. The Republicans used Jeffersonian ideas to get the Democrats out. So they each used the opposing party's historical ideals against each other, attempting to hoist the other by their own petard. What a tangled confusing web it is.

Re: California
No, trust me. I actually live here in CA. As long as Arnold does what he said he would on TV he'll do a good job, because a lot of the stuff he said makes a lot of sense. But only IF he can cut through the red tape and do it.shinji13 wrote:i dont know sorry to say but i hear californias one of the stupidest states there is.I mean they let out a shit load of people who didnt graduate from highschool and graduated them, now its all gonna get messed up not to mention alot of shit goes down in CA trust me... but the new one is probably better than the last.
