What is the highest quality DVD ripper?

I would really like to know, I just bought Ah! My Goddess the Movie and I can't wait to use it! the only problem is the dvd ripping utilities I use now wel... SUCK! lol, anyways, can you suggest how I would get the highest quality output so I can work with good video? oh, and don't be afraid to tell me technical stuff, I may not now as much about video editing as I do other computer related tasks, but I try to keep up

The ripping method doesn't determine the quality.

Why does everyone seem to think it does?

Stick with SmartRipper.

Thats a little more complicated though. SmartRipper is Smart (as the name suggests ) and it actually automatically selects the main part of the DVD (the feature, obviously) plus it shows stuff like playing times and sizes. With this info, you can determine what part of the DVD corresponds to what, if you know the Title and Chapter layout (I make it my job to know the Title/Chapter layout of my DVDs)

But DVDDecrypter works too, except you need an ASPI layer for it, and SmartRipper can use the Win I/O file access, meaning no PRESSING need for ASPI. Although its preferable, but hey.

You mean I've been doing it the hard way? And to think...I had to reforce my aspi each time I reset my computer. ~_~

Still, I find dvddecryptor be to simple enough now - and I haven't had any trouble knowing which vobs to choose when I just want certain parts of a dvd. I think it's just a matter of getting used to it. And so far, most of the problems I've seen here were from people using SmartRipper - I haven't seen as many people with questions who use dvddecryptor. That's why I suggested it. ^_^;;

It is a bit more complex- but I kind of like it that way, it gives me complete control over what is ripped and how it does it.

I was ripping a DVD on SmartRipper, and it was like beep beep beep beep beep beep beep and then like half of my DVD was gone. And I was like "???"
It devoured my DVD. It was a really good DVD. And then I had to rip it again and I had to do it fast so it wasn't a good. It's kind of...a bummer.

i used to use both of them and now i dont i went back to capturing cause im a lazy ass and dont want to mess with ripping. plus i think it screwed up my dvd player for a little bit and now it messes up now and then.
