Question For Premiere Users

Post by Elmoeggs » Thu Oct 16, 2003 7:58 am

Does anybody out there have any idea why I would be getting "Runtime Error" and "Abnormal Program Termination" messages very often. It is really annoying and it is keeping me from making anymore AMVs. So, if anyone can help me, please do.

Thanx in advance!

You've got to be kidding me. The Video Software Help forum is listed before the General Off Topic Forum is.

LMAO

Okay, so I know where the Video Software Help forum is. But, what about main question? Does any one know why? And how I can fix it.

Could be a million of things, really. Depends on:

1) Operating System
2) Premiere version
3) Any other program running at the moment
4) Source footage used

Point 4 is usually the most common: are you using DivX files as your source footage? Premiere is well known to crash while using this type of files: convert them to huffyuv by using Virtualdub and then try again (be warned: your huffyuv files will be HUGE, so just take the clips you need)

Other possible source of the problem is the audio: are you using an mp3 file? If so, convert it to WAV prior to using it. I've noticed also some kind of annoying bug when you cut your audio with the razor tool: sometimes it crashes Premiere during export.

If none of the above works, then I'd try the following:

A) Upgrade your OS to the latest service pack
B) Upgrade your Premiere to the latest service pack
C) Cross your fingers and pray

If still doesn't work... well... there's always the reformat, the definitive solution to all the Windows problems :P
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Finally, A real answer.

It's probably point #4, because I do you divx encoded clips. Thanx for your help.

happend to me about 5 times.. its not so annoying how another bug that i get every 10 minutes, the videos break and were just black, so I cant edit them or render.. have to restart Premiere over and over.. -_- maybe we need more RAM.. this app is very buggy..

if it "just" crashes on your system, my hint:

CHANGE SCENE
SAVE
CHANGE SCENE
CHANGE ANOTHER SCENE
SAVE
SAVE
SAVE

;)

works good and its not so timewasting how it sounds..

maybe you can isntall a clean windoze partition just for cutting AMVs, could help if its the system.

greetings,
Mathew

It's the Divx files. Why can't people get the idea or concept of keyframed video source not working?
