That's one reason I try to stay away from them, but I've used them a few times when I thought they worked.

Also, I have bad memories of way, way back in the mid-late '90s when I downloaded a few AMVs from one page, and they ALL used Sailor Moon transformation clips EXCLUSIVELY. (one of the few bits of multimedia you could download back then) Three different songs, same stupid footage. That turned me off to the idea of "stock footage" in an AMV, but Chibi-Moon transforming was too good to pass up in Senshi On Springer.

It wasn't intended; I have no idea where you're getting that.
You do that naturally. :?

Geez, for my most recent vid http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=25175

I used some scenes from the opening of Love Hina and Please Teacher, but I made them work with the music. As long as you make the video work with the music then all will be good. And as for the quality issue, jeez, Kevin Caldwells "Engel" isn't too crash hot on video quality, but its one of the best videos I have. That one and "Another Sunday Afternoon" by Danny (Tanda, I think... )

And SarahTheBoring is right. Don't pay attention to an opinion that has alot of (deliberate) spelling errors as its a sign that the writer is a lazy fuck that couldn't be bothered watching the video through.

we're talking about footage from the opening sequence before each episode/ending sequence after?

dwchang's 'glory of love' and aokakesu's 'odorikoruu' used a good amount of footage from opening sequences and i don't hear anyone complaining about it.

or am i misinterpreting something?

In my latest project (should be uploaded by sometime late tomorrow) I used tons of op footage, just because it had to be done. Sometime you find it just necessary in-order to fit to the song/lyrics.

That's not always true. I mean, sure, it's convinient to group stupid reviewers into a large group because the don't spell out their words and use proper grammar. However, I have gotten some good reviews from these people. I guess you could call them exceptions to the rule, or something.

What really irks me are short, one line reviews. I've gotten some that have perfect spelling and grammar, but their just one or two lines. Which is better in your opinion: A lengthy misspelled review, or an immaculate terse review?

True, though I don't think I have. I was being a smartass there, y'see. What I meant was something like:

If someone isn't putting a decent amount of thought and effort into their review, then I wouldn't take their critique as seriously. And to me, netspeak suggests something that is thrown off without much thought, like chatter in a chatroom. If this isn't the case, maybe the writer in question could put some effort toward presenting themselves more thoughtfully.

*Tiptoes in all quietly*

Um...I'm fairly new to the whole AMV thing, at least from a creating them point...I've seen quite a few that use opening footage, and in general it seems to me like it really only works well when it's either used a short filler shots or at the beginning of the song as a lead-in thing. I recently found out, though, that a vid I saw at NDK last year had quite a few op/ed shots in it that most of us didn't even notice-the girl who mentioned it was like a die hard fan, and I think she only noticed because she was picking it apart scene by scene. So it can work...just so long as it's not overdone.
