I have not only read stories about it involving everything from cancer to aids to fake pregnancies. I have also seen it on a yahoo message board. The person will 'die' and friends will come back and forth talking about the person who died for any length of time after the game is over.
Sometimes they start a new game as a different person, but when this happens in real life, it ruins friendships and erodes trust in the people who fell for it. My older sister has this and it's odd to have her tell you every couple of years she is only going to live for one more year....and goes to the doctor for drugs she doesn't need. It's called Hemophillia. I'm not saying that is what happened here, but it does sound like it....if I am wrong, then you have my sympathy either way actually....
And if this isn't the case, pehaps the parent/authority figure does not want the child on the internet anymore and the brother was just being an ass by saying she died
-Hey, why aren't you online anymore?
-I'm not *insert name*, she's dead, Jim.
I just hope all this doesn't give IK any bright ideas
