If you are only using it for reading .d2v files/IVTC, and cutting clips that way, the answer is probably "not much". If you follow the link in my earlier post, however, and click through to the "Fix for DVD2AVI/MPEG2DEC Frame Loss Problem" page, you'll see that there are a few problems with the older versions which could affect you if you are editing straight from .avs files.Arigatomyna wrote:
I have a question since you seemed to recognize the problem immediately. ^_^
I use version 2.0, and the older version of the plugin - but I do have the newer version in my plugin folder. I had avisynth 2.5 at one time and switched to version 2.0 (can't remember why, just that 2.5 didn't like me). Would it be best to use 2.5? I know it's newer, but is it better? I only use avisynth for inverse telecine, so I haven't really thought of switching back to 2.5. Am I missing something by using the older version?
Avisynth 2.5 is widely regarded as being faster, more versatile in terms of colorspaces, and pretty much all new filter development is being done for 2.5.
If you managed to get through this site's AV guide well enough to get avisynth and IVTC to work, you can almost certainly get through the necessary reading at http://www.avisynth.org and the avisynth subforum at doom9 to get 2.5 to work for you.
There are quite a few interesting new filters and such for 2.5, so you might want to dig in and do some research. The next release of amv.app is expected to move to 2.5 anyway, however, so I guess you have the option of either "getting the jump on the competition" or waiting for the next amv.app release.

Yeah, I edit with huffyuv clips - don't use premiere or anything that can work directly with the avs files. And I've never touched the various filters in the version of avisynth I have now (just to get rid of interlacing and a bit of cropping now and then). But I'll check the improvements - and the problems with the verison I'm using now. ^_^FurryCurry wrote:If you are only using it for reading .d2v files/IVTC, and cutting clips that way, the answer is probably "not much".
