Are you sure thats a premiere problem...or can you open them at all...then it could possibly be that you just dont have the right codec (most likely a divx version codec)

Why the heck was this thread moved to General AMV? This should be in Video Software Help, unless you're trying to invite flames upon this guy.

You have to uncheck "authorize website..." in the Windows Media Player settings (sorry I have the french version).

Anyway Premiere can't handle AVI files properly... You should transform them into MPEG-1 using TMPGEnc first.

You mean it cant handle DIVX properly.

BTW, mpeg1 isnt frame accurate even in premiere.

Yep, DivX, sorry ^_^.

I've noticed a framerate problem with MPEG-1 in Premiere, but thought it was my encoding...

It should be able to import then atleast tho....

If he can play them in media player but not Premiere maybe he has a direct show filter instead of actual VfW codecs.

Either way if they are DivX, your best bet would be to convert them to something else.

I hope they aren't WMV's or ASF's listed as AVI's. =P Those won't import.

I've only gotten that problem when I tried using .avis using that god damn Microsoft Mpeg-4 V2 codec, but since it's that codec I have no idea how to convert it to something decent.

Actually, if you look at the top, its IN the video software help forum, WHY it's still in general AMV as WELL is beyond me, must be one of those horrible PHPBB quirks.

[ MOD: It was moved FROM General AMV. For newbies, a "Shadow Thread" is left to help them find it. ]
