Avatars and sigs - the quickest way to keep from having to view anything that might offend you would be to request a filter that automatically blocks out any and all pictures. Then you don't have to get someone who decides what may or may not be offensive to others - just stop viewing all pics on the site. That, along with a filter to block out all buzz words the member chooses (any word they don't want to see) should settle that problem. It won't do anything about questionable discussions (unless you block all posts *using* the buzz words and not just the words themselves) - but you could get it so you don't see posts by anyone who uses a buzz word once. You could even have those who use a buzz word be put on a 'blocked' list for the member who wishes to avoid those sort of words (and the people who use them).

Then you could look at the 30 posts by the 3 or 4 people here who never speak of anything that might possibly be offensive to someone. ^_^ Sounds like a great idea.

Only five new posts were made. I feel disappointed.
I would like to hear some more opinions - especially from those who have not yet given any opinion on the topic (but please don't think I'm being forceful).
As Arigatomyna pointed out, there are other ways to filter out obscene language. However, I still think a filter would be a good addition to this site. And the problems with non-essential items (end of message quotes and the images at the left and bottom of posts) can only be effectively solved from within the animemusicvideos.org website.
I am not yet ready to say that this is a lost cause.

NO, give it a rest already.

With the OT forums gone that took out about 90% of the forum cursing.

As much as a language filter seems like an idea. It's really a waste of time. People will find ways around it. Be it: modifying their spelling, using leet in their posts, or even going as far as using pictures of text.
It wouldn't take all that long for them to make that adjustment... although anyone wants to go _that_ far to say things their way, maybe they should look into politics or the music industry  or something.

As much as I wouldn't wish anymore work onto the hard working Agents of the system. Why not adjust the existing rules to mention use of such language? Delete such posts without warning, the usual follow-up mention in the thread, re-educating the offender. Then if they storm-off about it, a banning would be in order. Well probably only in the worst of posts... but that's already been happening hasn't it.

Especially considering how many 'curse' words are just normal words made to be 'bad' by society and the times. We'd just get a rash of new words that mean the same insult - words that were harmless before (think queer - once meaning strange, now an insult, or the 's' word - once meaning defecation, now meaning 'oh that sucks'). It's just a matter of someone 'coining the term' next to give us our own org curse slang. Who knows, maybe Elite can be set up to mean "stick up butt" or something equally unpleasant. Language is fun.

Utilize numerous language filters, in addition to disabling smileys, sigs and avatars. Make the whole forum text only!
