I don't know, I thought Trigun was best at the beginning, when it appeared the show would be a "action-comedy" instead of a depressing, serious action anime (the mixture of silly and (very) serious kind of backfired for me). Still a good series. As far as Evangelion, right on. A lot of series are at their best in the second half (Love Hina, X, Noir and especially Escaflowne) to varying degrees. However Kanon (if you've seen it) is a special case. Its just a completely different anime than the first half. The first half is like "saved by the bell" (well not really but you get the point) and the second half was a lot like "The 6th Sense."

Anyway, about this topic, it seems like you've seen just about every romantic anime there is Nikki. We should probably be asking you what the best romantic animes are.

oh yeah, and have you seen fruits basket? Havent seen it but I'm constantly hearing about it. Like 15 times in the last 2 days.

YES. You should most definitely watch Furuba (fruits basket). Lovable characters and strong themes makes this one on my faves list ^^ Surely there MUST be one I haven't watched... :(

You might wanna check out Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien. The first episode looks like a typical romance, but then some serious plot twists make it into a whole lot more. Very compelling series.

And if you liked Onegai Teacher, you'll like Onegai Twins. Some great laughs and a nice bit of romance, and so beautifully animated. I haven't gotten to the end yet though.

But won't they ever stop saying "We might be relatives but we might be strangers"?! If I had a dollar for every time they've said that so far in the series, I could go and actually buy something on DVD.
And what's with Ichigo? I don't remember her having her own patented quiet little evil laugh in Onegai Teacher.

Although noone's mentioned it, I presume that you've seen KareKano? If not, then do so. [/bias]

As a romantic fellow myself, I enjoyed the emotional aspects of Princess Tutu also. Very highly recommended, and don't be put off by the first few episodes- it gets better exponentially.

I love romance... hell, one of the reasons I'm an anime fan is because I happen to like good romantic stories... (or stories that happen to have a good romance contained in them)

I mean... Macross is a giant-robot action title, but you still have that great Hikaru-Misa-Minmay love triangle.

Gundam 0080: War in the pocket is about a child's perceptions of war... crossing from the fiction to the hars reality... but I still loved the relationship story between Kris and Bernie

Anyway... Maison Ikkoku is a great series (what little I have of it so far) and I just saw Kare Kano mentioned... and that's great as well (almost have all of that)

One of my favorite tales of romance is contained in the original El Hazard OAV. THe show doesn't start as a romance, but it ends with one of the best.

There are some great romantic moments in Tenshi ni Nuramon (if I spelled that right) assuming you can find the series.

Anyway... just flinging out some thoughts.

hey wow. thanks a lot for the show's guys. Yup, I've seen KareKano, sure enough, hehe. and El Hazard OVA. I'm not much of a Mecha fan, but I did like Gundam Seed though, so we'll see ^^I'm gonna wait for Onegai Twins to finish, then i'll just watch the series straight through. Hmm as for the "Tenshi ni nuramon", I'll def. look into that. And I guess I'll just go with Maisson Ikkoku for nows.^^ Thanks guys!! If you have n e thing else, let me know ^^

I don't believe anyone has mentioned Kimugaru (sp) Orange Road. Never seen it myself, but I've heard some good things about it.
