It don't matter if this palce is for Anime. the guy wants to express his love for the Powerpuff Girls so let him. Besides, the movie was great, and I thought it was better than MIB II.

Now, you DO realize that anime is an abbreviation of animation, and not Japanese Animation right? Just because an animation is not made in a certain country, doesn't mean it's crap. Maybe you should open your mind a bit. I'll watch Powerpuff Girls or Clerks: The Animated Series over Dragonball Z any day, but not because they're American, because they're good and Dragonball Z isn't. Of course that's just my opinion, but why be concerned with what country it came from?

I totally agree with Gimpy on this.

If you want to stereotype like that, then go right on ahead, and be a self-absorbed, close-minded fool.

I love to watch anime (Japanese anime), but I also love to watch other cartoons as well. Most of those include: Looney Tunes, Powerpuff Girls, Ed, Edd, & Eddie, Samurai Jack, Batman: Beyond, Grim & Evil, Time-Squad, etc. Now, I can understand if you want to bag on a lot of the newer American cartoons, but to bag on Looney Tunes... that there is just plain WRONG. Looney Tunes HELPED pioneer most of the great cartoons, REGARDLESS of where it came from.

Anime is the French word for animation. So going by the above logic only french shows are anime. Can we say Asterix or the Smurfs or caliou. I love my anime!!!

Mr Oni

Btw I love powerpuff girls. And it's obvious that they are susposed to be anime style characters so chill out.

Btw 11 the japs don't have anything as funny as family guy

More about the movie..

Post by Gimpy » Sat Jul 06, 2002 8:26 am

Well it's obvious at least a few other people like the PpG, so I'll say a little more about the movie other than just 'it was excelent.'
The movie is very pleasing to fans like myself but is also great to people who have never seen the show. It takes place before the series and explains in greater detail what goes in the opening sequence to the show: how and why the Powerpuff Girls were created (keeping faithful to the series by not swaying from the story outlined in the show's opening sequence AND by not contradicting what was told in the episode entitled "Mr. Mojo's Rising"), as well exploring their first experiences with the people of townsville. One of the things I've always loved about the series was the wonderful upbeat original music by James L. Venable, and the movie just takes that to a whole new level. This movie is also filled with great jokes and puns. I am going to see this movie again in about an hour and half. :D

Also, I totally agree with Mr. Oni's staement that the Powerpuff Girls draw heavily from anime, in some cases even poking a little fun at it, such as in the episode "Stuck Up, Up, and Away" where Blossom gets into an 'anime style' fight with the souped-up Princess Morbucks.

Good Day!
