I reccomend, if you haven't seen much anime:

Ranma
Tenchi
Escaflowne
Trigun

If you're more familiar with anime:

Kodomo no Omocha
Cardcaptor Sakura
Sailor Moon
Fruits Basket

As for manga, it doesn't really get much better than Sailor Moon. Great manga. Also highly reccomended is: Love Hina, Ranma, I''s, and No Need for Tenchi.

THE best anime in the whole wide world...

Post by fallen » Fri Aug 23, 2002 8:39 pm

okidi, the BEST anime in the world is Rurouni Kenshin, (it got me three answers on the ninth grade STAR Test this year...stuff on the meiji era)

Inu-Yasha is very good too! :D especially if you're looking for bishyness....

Cowboy Bebop's ending had me crying myself to sleep for a week, so its a very good story...

Yu Yu Hakashou is good....there are similar characters to Vegeta(DBZ ; Dragon Ball Z), Kenshin (Rurouni Kenshin), Sesshomaru/Inu Yasha (Inu Yasha), and the main character resembels Ranma (Ranma 1/2)....all my opinion....

Theres also Rayearth, Ranma 1/2 (if you like plot-less things), Gundam Wing (if you like war stuff), Escaflowne...(people say they don;t like the drawings...but i say...anything after Utena is good :D), uhh...might wanna try out Outlaw Star....more bishy-ness there....and uhh.....thats all i can think of off the top of my head....OH! Card Captors Sakura, and Clover (both by clamp) are good....

To see Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, and several other anime you might wanna check out Adult Swim on Cartoon Network on Saterday nights starting at 11 p.m.....so ya....and Inu Yasha is coming to adult swim on October 31st....

garylisk, shouldn't it be the other way around....sailor moon is the first thing to watch....its a bit corny but its good at introducing different concepts of anime.....including the constant snow white/sleeping beauty thing.....*grumbles* he kisses she wakes up....she dies he kisses she wakes up......for heavens sake...thats SO wrong....sorry...didn't mean to take off like that...*snaps back into the real world*

anyways as i was saying....sailor moon is a good beginning anime....course thats just my opinion

and then escaflowne would be something to gradually step into...*nods*

Heck, if you really want a war anime, there's better out there... like the original Gundam and the next two or three sequels (in the non-AU storylines).
