Want a Public debut for your work? Here's UR Chance!!

Post by Cross/Zero Blues » Tue Nov 25, 2003 2:02 am

Ok I am being serious here. I am unsure of others feel the way I do but I have wanted to have my video's viewed by a live audiance. I work at Bedroxx in Tucson, Arizona as an Arcade Ass. Manager and I am working on getting our 32 big screens working to do just that. I have done some testing and at this point its foundation is being laid down.

We have done tests with the system we use for DJing and for sure it supports MPEG format 2. So any video's would have to be able to be converted to that format. I have Vegas Video and convert anything but avi and real player to the needed format.

Right now theres really no prise for winning, just getting viewed. Now there are some rules that have to be adheared to just because of the public audiance;

1) No Nudity.
2) Try and limit cursing if possible.
3) No Real Player Formats.
4) No hinting sexual represntation of any kind.
5) Please make sure all contact information is removed and no full video name-tags.
6) Try and use high quality and large video's. The projectors are far enough away to hide most small resolution problems, but your quality is important as it affects if it is played.
7) Use some commonsense, if it is not PG-13 type then its something you can ask me about. Don't hesitate to ask me I have no problem letting you know.

Now I am looking for someone to help me because if AMV feels that this would be good for them I would like to list them on any flyers and logo setups for the night or nights we do this. Also I would like to see an online setup for all those who submit so they can see there standing. It could really give the community some more feedback. Maybe someone from AMV Staff could let me know if this interests them.

Now back to the outline, so far video's can have a beginning and ending logo but they must meet the rules. We have not decided on a night or nights to do it but that will be solved soon. However one thing that needs to be made clear is that NO ONE IS GETTING PAID FOR ANYTHING WITH THIS!!! Also Bedroxx is not buying video's or promising that you will get some advancement by anyone looking for someone with skill, ect. This is a fun event. We will be discussing if we will have prises and how those will work for our online winners. We may do some bigger all out events with cash prizes or something but that depends on how things go and how people act. If anyone has any suggestions let me know everything is starting so its something that could help. If you have any questions ask me. Hope to hear from you all soon. Thanks

You can use my video "Twist Of", it's already to go in SVCD format, so you shouldn't need to convert it. Here's the link:

I need to make a list of video's to use, and to trake information ect. I would like to get it on my Pocket PC to make things easier so anyone who is good with Excel let me know I need it to track states, viewing replys, of course video name and creator, also Studio where applicable along with ratings and standings ect. Any help would be nice.

It also needs to keep track of who has submitted videos if they were viewed ect.

Now I also wanted to see if anyone knows CraktSmurf. I would like to have his Destruction of Buu video to use on our opening. I really enjoy watching it ^-^

No one can stop staring at your avatar, it's too distracting!

*shrugs* For some people I guess. Personally though, I've found that it really doesn't take much to impress the general non AMV making public. I mean you could show em a bunch of crappy DBZ videos and they would all probably be like, "Oh yo, that's got all shades of k00l, man!"

Heh...

Do as you like, personally the only reason I offered my video was because it was already encoded in MPEG-2 format and I thought that might save you some time. I've already got way too many projects though to start taking part in yet another one. If this is something that YOU really want to do...you'll be able to do it. I doubt you're gonna find anyone here who wants to invest the time to make your dreams come true...unless you can find someone here with the same dream...

If my dreams are limited to helping others then you are right those who are to self centered and egotistic that they are just looking at my avaiator will not see that I am not trying to work with everyone here.

This is about giving others the chance to have there work seen by the public and to take part in something for there own enjoyment. My dreams are much larger than hey lets get my anime music video's viewed in public and I am sure the same runs for everyone else. Personally though I am interested in seeing what others outside of the AMV community think of my work and excuse me for thinking someone else may feel the same way.

First of all the avatar thing was a joke...I'm guessing it just skipped you. Second, calling everyone who doesn't take you seriously self centered and egotistical is NOT gonna help your situation.

No, it really isn't. To most people, having their AMVs shown in some town, somewhere in the world, probably hundreds if not thousands of miles away from where they live, where they themselves won't even be able to take active part in...yeah, they don't fucking care. And why should they? It's not like they will be there to see the reactions on peoples faces when they watch the AMVs or to get first hand opinions, etc, etc. The ONLY person who is actually benefiting is YOU. Basically, to put this as blunt as possible, you can't make AMVs, so you're tryin to pull off the next best thing. Basically by being the "bringer" or "distributor" of AMVs in whatever the hell backwards town you live in. And golly, won't that be a lovely ego trip for you, but for the rest of us...*shrugs*...unless we live where you live, it's pretty much meaningless.
My dreams are much larger than hey lets get my anime music video's viewed in public and I am sure the same runs for everyone else.
Oh your dreams seem pretty apparent my friend. It's like you want a nice ego trip, but you don't want to have to actually DO any of the work it would take to pull it off. And give me a fucking break, how hard would it be to find a bunch of good AMVs, reconvert them into SVCD format, and burn em to play at where ever the hell it is you plan to play them at? I mean if you're looking to assemble a team of people to do THAT, yeah, it's pretty apparent you aren't investing much of your own time or effort into this endeavor. And again, an endeavor which ONLY benefits you.
Personally though I am interested in seeing what others outside of the AMV community think of my work and excuse me for thinking someone else may feel the same way.
Well now that's the trick, isn't it, SEEING what others outside of the AMV community think...can't really do that unless I'm living in the same town you are. Hrmmm, is it clickin for you yet? I don't mean to come off as sounding like an asshole, but seriously, yer ignorance and pouty attitude is startin to irk me. Ask for help, if no one offers it, guess yer doin it on yer own or you're not doing it all, that's your choice. Whining, bellyaching, and calling people names isn't gonna bring yer magical fairy God mother down out of the clouds to make all yer lil dreams come true.

Alright guys, let's give the poor guy a break here. He's just trying to make a new thing work. I've got an idea for you dude. Tape the showing of the AMV's you show, especially the audience and their reactions, and post it on the internet. If you don't know how, then get some help with it. It would get a lot more people interested, perhaps, if they get to see the audience's reactions. Just for the sake of friendliness, the link to my profile is in my sig. You want to show one of my vids, just ask me first, although like others have said, if I don't get audience opinions or reactions it really doesn't help me any.
