help Virtualdub....ahhhh..ahhh

ok when I go to open my notepad thing (don't know what else to call it) on Virtualdub it gives me an error message.....help......

Describe more. What does the error say. Post the text from the notepad document. More... and then we might be able to help.

lol sorry I guess I really didn't give any info

ok I typed MPEG("D:\sCRYed, Thrid disk.d2v") into the notepad

then the erroer message

avisynth open failer:
AVIFileSource: couldn't open file

I was using default template if that helps at all

It sounds like he has an avs problem.


Try taking the comma out, but I don't think your extension is right. I use VFAPIConv to make my dvd2avi files usable in virtualdub. You might try using it if you can't manually get the extension right. Just do a search for that program and open your d2v files by clicking "Add Job' then when you are done click 'Convert'. They'll be usable in virtualdub. Course though, other people might be able to help on your notepad file probem.

when you save it in notepad make sure you save it with quotation marks around the file name, otherwise notepad will save it as a .avs.txt instead of .avs and it will be unusable

Or change the File Type from "Text Document" to "All Files"; this way the ".txt" doesn't get added on.

I did everything right wtih notepad (saved it as all fiels and put the quotation makrs around the fille name) but it still gives me the error message so after that I just deleted it and made a new one but its the same error message.....whats the template setting supposed to be?
well I do rememeber when I installed Virtualdub that it said because I have Divx that it could cause problems in Virtualdub, could this be the problem?

I tried Misty's way (with VFAPIConv) but that didn't work either....should I unintall Divx 3 and see waht happens?
