[MOD359]Half the reason for the removal of the OT forums is that they were detracting from the rest of the site. Useful people were leaving because the OT forums were bringing in the kind of useless people which make the site unenjoyable for those who chose not to tolerate their shinanigans. Removing those people makes the site more useful, because more useful people will be around.
You know, originally I thought the main reason off topic was removed was because the mods were tired of babysitting the OT threads, which I can respect. Now that I see the main reason was because it pushed away former big name creators and Phade wanted them back...it makes me think it was removed for all the wrong reasons. :?

I'm sorry, why can't there be two reasons for doing it?

Good points, though I don't want to comment anyone on personal level.

Now, I don't make that many AMVs, lacking time and suitable equipment (in home) to make them so not many have made it to this site.

Sure, forum can be closed, it's after all Phades right. I can find another one. I think OT was a good place to pass the time and 'shoot the bull', since at least i'm not interested to talk about latest techical specs which are required to make a decent AMV.

But I don't really understand these Ad hominem attacks about OT forum users, saying anyone who posted there was just a troll, nothing more (Ok, i'm exaggerating). I posted a lot to OT but I have not made that many AMVs. Does that automatically make me a substandard person?

But anyway, it was just a forum. Everyone will get over it eventually.

(And that's everything i'm going to say).

Looks like the ad hominem attacks are flying both ways to me.

I'm not really sure what would be accomplished by putting back the OT forums though. It's not like things are going to go back to this magical "way it used to be". Seems to me like everyone might be better served by continuing to move forward and adapt to any new changes instead of trying to relive their questionable glory days.

And if you can't adapt to these new changes? Then overpower the guy holding the gun to your head that is making you come to these forums/this site then.

Well, that's why I said I'm not arguing the OT forums. I just wanted something made clearer. By now, everyone's found an alternative to the Org OT (whether that's another forum or more free time) and, while OT would get just as much traffic, there is no need for it... until people start announcing themselves in GA or GAMV. :?

I don't think there's really a need for this thread nemore. Why not 'get rid of the fat' instead of trimming.

Note that this view does not represent the beliefs or policies of the the Org staff or management. Not officially anyway.

You seriously think jbone is cool by being so rude and vindictive to people? have you even read some of his posts? He used to make valid pionts and be a good member of the org, but now he just likes thinking he's better than everyone and dissin people. He even says so himself! I've lost faith in the mods if this is how they truely feel.

x2

However notice that the number of posts this thread gets is steadily lessening. That i think the mods can attest to. This thread will likely be "dead" in a time not too far if it is not dead already.

Just my random two cents: it seems like I've seen the mods do more since the OT stuff was removed than in the few months I've been here prior to that. Just wanted to say a) good job guys; and b) it's making me really realize how much crap the mods had to wade through before then. I'm still a bit saddened that they're gone, but it looks like the forum's now a manageable entity. With as much stuff as was posted then as compared to now, it's no wonder the mods couldn't do much...

I don't really see much differance in the forums, seeing as I've been posting in most sections since I joined. The only thing that seems to have changed is the site suggestions forum, which is now getting much more activity than it used to. GA is still relatively full of screaming Otaku, General AMV is still as interesting as it has been, AMV announcements still doesn't get as many posters replying as it should, and all in all, the only thing really noticably different is that my scrollbar is a bit bigger.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.
