So is Metallica, at least one my local classic rock station. Don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. I've been in this game for a long time.

I wouldn't exactly classify Led Zepplin as metal either but like I said, I didn't come up with these rules. If Metal Maniacs and Brave Words & Bloddy Knuckles wants to call them heavy metal, then I see no reason to argue. Again, like I said, I doubt they would be misinformed. I don't exactly appreciate you condescending bullshit either, especially when I do happen to know what the fuck I'm talking about.

I don't care how long you've been in the "game." Zeppelin was the metal of their time and they've influenced the metal that's around today, I'll give you that much, but things change. They're still one of my favorite bands, but to call them metal now would just be silly. That's like saying big band is about the most rebellious kind of music you could listen to.

And I'm not being condescending. I don't consider myself any more metal than any other fan. There's no need to get so upset.

And Kai, that almost brought a tear to my eye... Chuck was a big loss. :(

And another thing...

Because genres now are subjective things, there is no "misinformed" so I don't expect you to care what I call metal or not. However, reading somewhere, even from a credible metal site/magazine, that Zeppelin is metal does not make them so. If you listen to Zeppelin and you honestly think, "This is metal," then it is so and I don't have a problem with that. I should have said "it is my opinion that Zeppelin is not metal... LOLZZORZ" but the opinion part, I'd thought, was a given.

Fact: Jethro Tull won the first Grammy Award for Hard Rock/Metal. So you can see that there is alot of creative liscence taken when classifying bands even when done by the "establishment".

Lol, yeah... that was weird that they won that award over Metallica's And Justice For All though.

The way I understood it was that the academy or whatever they're called wanted to give Jethro Tull an award, but that was the only real opportunity to do so.
