At first I thought it was a mouse replacement, but it appears to be for left-hand use only. So, is it used along with a mouse? Are both attached to the PC at the same time?
This could be a more flexible and much cheaper ($50 or less) substitute for the ShuttlePRO. Related quote from the Creative Cow forum for Vegas:
Subject: Keyboard/Shuttle Alternative - Why didn't I think of it sooner?!?!?
As quick and nice as keyboard shortcuts are I am forced to cover a lot of surface area to make use of them all. Plus, I still have to look down at the keyboard to make sure I'm hitting the righ keys a lot of the time. I've never purchased a shuttle device because the ones I have seen have been over $100...and you still have to use the keyboard for most other shortcuts.
But I do have a USB device used by gamers called a Nostromo Speedpad. It is made by Belkin. I don't know why it never ocurred to me before to use it with Vegas (or photoshop, or 3d software, etc.), but it is perfect for anything where a lot of hot keys are involved. Go check it out for yourself.
Essentialy, it's a little keyboard for your hand. Your thumb rests on a directional pad while your fingers rest on a bank of 10 keys (which can be turned into about 30 using a "shift" feature). Below your index finger is a scroll wheel. You can assign any sort of keyboard combo you like to any of the inputs on the speedpad. The beauty of it is...you never have to move your hand and you never have to look at which key to punch. Plus...you have profiles, so for each application you run you can load up a keyboard mapping specifically for that app. It's going to be a HUGE time saver and I'm smacking myself in the forehead for not having thought of using it for more than just games sooner.
Oh yeah...I forgot to mention...you can get the newest version (the n52) from gamestop.com for only $34.99 (that's the cheapest I've seen it)...
