Mononoke Hime is only PG-13, for violence. Not even a mention of slight nudity(which is usually the thing that would cause it to be adult-only). I know around here you can buy anime freely most of the time, even if you're like 12 years old, no damn age-limit stickers.

Did this happen at Blockbuster, by chance? They are the one exception, practically ogre-like when it comes to anime. I remember when I was first getting really interested, I saw the first Urusei Yatsura volume at Blockbuster. I was 14, I think. Well, guess what was on the video? An adult-only label. Only thing the back mentions is brief nudity; yeah, all of 3 seconds of animated boobs(not hentai super-sized ones, no gatuitous jiggling, nothing "corrupting" to a kid) when Lum gets her top stolen during the tag race. I'd seen worse stuff than that on network TV. Pissed me off a lot...every time we went, I'd sort of look at it longingly for a moment. Didn't get to see UY for another two years until I found out Media Play had it, and without the stupid adult-only label. I'm 22 now, so I can buy whatever I damn well want to.

Wow, hadn't realized I was still that angry over the incident. I specifically don't patronize Blockbuster but rarely, by the way. Guess why? :(

Be thankful those labels are there. I saw Ninja Scroll and Wicked City way too early, and now I'm desensitised to just about anything.
The guy at the video store saw the animated thingy on the cover and didn't bother checking to see the rating, thinking it was Clifford the Big Red Dog or something. (Now theres an idea!! :P)
I thought I'd got away with murder at the time, but now I wished I hadn't seen them and kept my innocence in the way of anime. It wouldn't have lasted long, what with the search results recieved from even the tamest anime search on Google, but there's no use crying over spilt milk.
The worst conversation I have ever seen was a two line thing in Soul Calibur II, when watching it subbed at a friends house. (I had it set to dubbed.)
Taki and Mitsirugi were about to have their Story fight, and they said something that just sounded so stupid.
It's technically not anime, but games and anime are so close, and SCII has a very anime feel in some places, that I thought I'd mention it.

Its because society deems it to be too violent for children under 15 ... i think thats ok because it take a certain maturaty to understand that violence is not the answer ... unless the anime is like pokemon then, its ok for kids under 15, but for the real serious animes, it should be for viewers 16 and over. The reason for this is because those people 16 and over usually have that certain maturity that it takes to watch these aimes... i guess, it just up to the person, we cant really do anything about it .. :?

More people would like it though if Maturity went along with age. Too often, that ain't the case.

Yeah i kno i kno ... sometimes a person is more mature when they are 12 than a 16 year old, and the other way around ... i dont kno, its kind of sad to see those 16 year olds less mature than thier younger sister o brother... so sad ... :(

Well our rodgers video is a royal pain when it comes to anime. YOu see, they will have an anime there like Patlabour, enless you watch it in english, there is no swearing, no sex (Or talk of it), no nudity, and practicly no violence (Nothing to gain it an R rating). Both the first and second movie are rated R! Now this woulden't matter much, because I have had no problem renting R rated movies in my life. But it deosen't help that my dad put a restriction on the card blocking ALL R RATED FILMS! I woulden't care most the time, but since they have rated EVERY FREAKING ANIME DVD R at our store, I can't even rent Robotech (I'm dead serious). In a year, none of this will matter, but till then, I have to be sneaky and underhanded to get anime (Like downloading it, or getting an 18 year old friend to rent it for me). So all I'm trying to say is..... every thing everywhere.... sucks. Now go to hell
