Imposing on the DDR Project?

Well I'm back from a long hiatus away from a-m-v.org, and over the course of the year I've been gone I've accumulated many ideas for AMVs, one of which is rather magnanamous. I just read Sarahtheboring's post about worrying about stepping on some toes by making a vid to a song that'll be in a future DDR Project, and everyone seemed to treat her pretty well about it (except for jbone, but we've come to expect that from him

). So MY question is: Would it be stepping on toes to try to tackle the entire DDR Extreme Megamix? This wouldn't be hit as a project for at least 4 years, but it's still possible that it'll get done. And yes, I'm completely serious, the ENTIRE megamix, start to finish. I have concepts and ideas for nearly the whole damn thing. What do you guys say?

My impression is that one song is very different from an entire megamix. And that's not my usual spaz self talking, that's in all seriousness. Lots of people have done a song here and there, but IIRC somebody talked about doing a whole megamix and got ye olde smackedowne, because that's kind of the unique thing about the Project.

My advice is to talk to Brad and Hsien about it first to see if there are any solid plans for it.

Not every mix is going to be done by the DDR project - the Disney Rave for example was done by a different project organiser.

However, please be courteous and ask first. The last thing anyone wants is another us vs them battle of the projects. There's plenty of project ideas out there.

It's not like Konami has said "Brad DeMoss, thou shalt be the only one to produce the Video Illustration of Dance Dance", although that would be sort of cool.

Friction between projects usually only happens when somebody starts to say "Join my project, it's better than [insert title here], those {worthless, elitist, idiotic, crappy editor, ...} {pricks, jerkoffs, ...}!" If you can avoid that then I'm not sure what basis for objection could be raised.

If you want to do it, I'd say just do it. If a friendly attitude can be maintained then I hope to see two DDR Megamix video projects sometime in ... 2008

I'd try contacting Hsien first via PM or e-mail. He's easier than Brad to get a hold of.

Or Gunbound, which he appears to be playing right now.

I made a short 4 vid series based off DDR songs [save for Moonlight Shadow, the version I used wasn't ddr]

um... though this was a LOONNGG time ago, I honestly need to dump $0.02 here.

It realllyyy shouldn't matter who does what with what footage/song. I'll admit, I've complained about "those" vids before but I'm just opinionating now...

If you can pull off a GOOD dance amv, then go ahead... [though in honesty, I liked my DDR series of vids better than what the project had, but that's just my opinion, nothing more...]
