Otakon deadline too soon, need footage, no money...

Post by VicBond007 » Sun Jan 18, 2004 8:34 pm

Here's the deal. Otakon deadline is absurdly early this year, and I may already be too late to get started on a vid for it, but I'm notorious for using up sick days to finish a vid so here goes nothing ;)

The video I plan to do requires me to purchase the series Wolf's Rain. There is no option around it. No fansubs, no HKs, I need the real thing. Problem is, real thing is gonna set me back about $430, and that's after shopping around for used discs. If anyone's as in-love with this series as I am, I'd be willing to go 60/40 with them. Can't discuss the details here, but please, if you're interested, give me an IM or an email ASAP.

Sorry VicBond, I don't split anime purchases... I have to ask, what is your job(that you take sick days from) and why not abuse a credit card? 8)

(or do you suspect you might have other large anime purchases this year?)

I work for IBM. I fix laptops. I also work at my old high school. There, I watch blinky lights.

I don't want to abuse the credit card because if I don't have the cash to pay for it when the bill comes, then I don't want to be stuck with interest. $430 is enough, I don't need to pay that plus interest. I may be desperate but I'm no fool. ;)

This sounds a bit "eh" to me. Why not just buy the DVD's and then sell them on eBay or something? Or better yet, you're not going to get attacked by wild dogs if you use something like the HK DVDs. So sure, you get a 9 in video quality instead of a 10. Big deal. Is it really that neccessary? Anyways, good luck. Hopefully you'll find some hardcore Wolf's Rain fan.

The HKs look like someone took a crap in a bucket and fingerpainted the episodes. I care about my work a lot more than to bastardize it and use HKs ;)

R2s don't sell on ebay. Hell, R1s don't even sell on ebay. It's the bootleg capital of the world. I could try ebay.co.jp but I'd rather keep it in the country. I don't like dealing with shipping overseas. Too much work ^^

According to the Org's Contest Calendar, the final submission deadline for Otakon 2004 is April 19th.

Sorry but I can't provide assistance with your DVD-buying problem.. Just wanted to point out the bit of info above.
