I'd understand if it was YOUR story...but it's (stage whispers) NOT! They can do what they like, and they will. Most of those pics... and a few others, I've already seen. I don't care how bad they fuck it up, or how totally awesome they make it. you can't translate something to something else without losing something. Look at ripping MP3's. The reason why they're so small is because almost 2/3 of the file information is lost. Look at DVD ripping. You can see examples of crappy encoding everywhere.

Look at book to movie translations, a personal pet peeve of mine. They've been fucking up Stephen King movies since he started allowing them to be made, but I still like his work. You all seem to think that this movie will de-value something you have constructed your whole universe around. Relax! Hollywood makes TONS of crappy movies, and will continue to do so forever. Deal with it!

Worrying about offending people is stupid... though I do have something to say to your comment - what difference does it make if I personally didn't make the story? It's still important to me. If they where taking the Mona Lisa and hacking it up, I'm sure some people would be pissed, don't chya think?

What are you talkin' about? Her first name's Japanese, and "Auska" is not a valid romanization of anything you can come up with in Japanese -- the S has to be followed by a vowel.

The U in "Asuka", coming between two voiceless consonants, is whispered. That's all there is to it.

That's what I was thinking. She's half Japanese, so it's acceptable for her to have a Japanese name. Her mother was Kyoko, remember?

I have a friend who swears she's going to name her daughter Asuka, hehe.

Seriously stop your bitchin and moanin, you KNEW this was gonna happen anyways, besides, it's just CONCEPT art. Also, Names ARE NAMES, they're really not all that key especially to those who's never been introduced to Eva in the first place, which will be a large portion of the AMERICAN audience who will see it, and not give a damn.

Seriously, I'm surprised you haven't nit picked about the supposed Misato concept char's hair...being it's not purple OMG!!! Get over it, Rei/Ray's hair doesn't need to be blue OR white with red eyes! Do you know how stupid she'd look in live action if she was like that?

The AGES...really, do you need to be complaining abou the age difference. Do you really want 14 year olds playing the parts? Can you even name a single GOOD 14 year old actor that would fit even one of the roles? Hey lets have that Malcom in the Middle kid play Shinji, how about that! Hell I don't think I can even name any 18 year old who could act good at the moment.

i agree with the ppl argueing against the name changes, why the hell would they give Asuka the name Kate.. and Kate Rose of all names!
maybe if they were decent names, but not names like those, Asuka Langley Soryu i think is a great name, kudos to Anno

but i disagree with the ppl crying about the kids's appearances, Weta is NOT responsible for role-casting, so you should not take anything about those character designs seriously EXCEPT the plug-suits, i'm sure those bodies were just for reference or structure/guideline or sumtin, they're not gonna CG the kids, CRIKEY! (god i hope they don't CG the kids)
