Or you could just use the command-line FTP client that you already have (assuming you're using Windows).
how do you use the command-line FTP client?
Here's a session log:

220 ProFTPD 1.2.9rc2 Server (ProFTPD) [hostxx.ipowerweb.com]
User (hostxx.ipowerweb.com:(none)): xxxx
331 Password required for xxxx.
Password:
230 User xxxx logged in.
ftp> ls
200 PORT command successful
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for file list
mail
public_ftp
public_html
www
tmp
etc
226 Transfer complete.
ftp: 46 bytes received in 0.64Seconds 0.07Kbytes/sec.
ftp> cd public_html
250 CWD command successful.
ftp> binary
200 Type set to I
ftp> put Track04.wav
200 PORT command successful
150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for Track04.wav
...

Frequently-used commands are highlighted. You can probably figure out what they do from the server messages.

Windows' command-line FTP client is practically a direct rip of the standard UNIX FTP client. This would be awesome, if the Windows console-mode shell didn't suck ass.

Unfortunately, it sucks ass.

Windows Explorer's FTP capability is probably a better alternative. Type

ftp://user:pass@host/

into the Address bar of any Explorer window, and you'll be logged in via FTP to host, using the given username and password. From there you can perform the usual Windows file manipulation operations like you normally would.

trythil, don't tease the MS users.

It's probably easiest to get an FTP program. I use one called WS_FTP that's pretty basic, and I haven't had problems with it for the several years I've had it.

I'm not teasing them; there do exist methods for doing FTP using Windows' built-in facilities, and they work fairly well.

I just think that the command-line FTP client shipped with Windows isn't a very good alternative without a solid support.

Hey, there are some amazing AMVs out there that aren't 'veiwer-freindly'. Fatal Hack, for instance, and a good number of Hellsing vids, demenstrate a lot of talent yet still manage to be cool trailers. Iris bt AniHawk is still and will always be, my favorite vid.

This is completely unrelated to the actual topic but I am going to agree with trythil, the command prompt is nowhere near as good as Console is on linux It took me weeks to get readjusted cursing windows command prompt for not being as smart as console.

Thats all I have to say.
