Now would be a good time to boycott something.
Probably too busy to be here right now.

hmm, A Riot Sounds like a good idea. We should chop off all the producers arms and legs and ship them to Africa. MWHAHA*Cough*Cough*. * clears his throat *

Anyway .. Thats just stupid. How can we call the people that only watch anime from Fox or the WB or the Cartoon Network even Anime Fans. They only know the Americanized version of the series. I wouldnt call them Anime Fans.

That's the thing. 4Kids are NOT trying to please the anime fans; they're trying to please the overall children demographic by showing something that's profitable and entertaining. I'm just hoping they're not going to edit it immensly like what Nelvana did to Cardcaptors; I REALLY hope the edits is in terms of like Digimon (c'mon, despite some edits of the series, at least ALL of the episodes was shown).

True enough. The Cardcaptors Series really pissed me off .. i ahve 2 dvds of it (from before i knew any better) and the CardCaptor Sakura DVDs i have are alot better. theres more of a story line to it than just the origional Card Captors. it had a kinda ok OP though . But still, Would you call the people that only watch the Americanized Versions Anime Fans. The Same thing as with Pokemon. Most of the episodes were showed, but the one that caused Seizures in Japan and the one with the gun ( i stopped following after that so i dont know if there are more) were never showed over here. I'm sure they it was a good series over there and the People at 4Kids just killed it :(

In my opinion, I don't call these kids anime fans at all. I just call them fans of "some series".

Damn you for putting that back in my head!

Anyway, localization is not necessarily a Bad Thing. Most parents don't want to field questions about crossdressing men (and that's just an example from Pokèmon). But when you attempt to twist a show into a different thing entirely, unless it's done well (or quasi-well, think Robotech), it shouldn't be done at all (CardCaptors, Initial D (ugh!)).
Life's short.

That's true too. I guess most of the people are afraid of what edits 4Kids might put that could "ruin" the series. I've seen the first 2 episodes of Tokyo Mew Mew on fansubs, and there's practically nothing objective. Since it's going to be changed to Hollywood Mew Mew, there's a pretty big chance that some Japanese references will get removed. Of course, if they call Tokyo Tower "the radio tower", I'll get seriously pissed; just saying tower would be acceptable in my book.
