Sorry Tallon, you've always been nice to me, but you had that one coming.
Look Dark Ashitaka, Tallons not really a bitch or anything, you just touched on something that easily pissed Tallon off (which isnt your fault, YOUR NEW ). If you want to get on his/her good side, go watch Azumanga Daioh, then announce to the world you think its the greatest anime ever!
As far as this topic is concerned, Princess Mononoke is a very famous and successful film. Upon its japanese release it was the highest grossing Japanese film of all time (later replaced by Spirited Away). It is one of my personal favorite films of all time, for its magical portrayal of feudal japan, and the theme of man versus nature, or more specifically, it chronicles the journey mankind made from living with nature to living ON nature.
I am a liberal and even I was taken aback a little by Mononoke's heavy handed pro-environmental message. Only Captain Planet was more brainwashing. What I'm surprised no one else mentioned was Spirited Away and its extreme pro environmental messages. The environmental messages in Spirited away bothered me the most, because they were essentially extraneous to the main plot and were sneakier than Mononokes. Examples of this most notably include the Stink Demons bath, in which tons of filth and trash are removed and the Stink Demon and he becomes a wonderful, beautiful dragon of the river, purified and healthy once again.
Uncle Milo mentioned watching it subbed. I dont know how good the sub is, but the dub was great. Billy Bob Thornton plays the monk, Minnie Driver plays the Lady of the Fort (forget her name) exceptionally well, and Billy Crudup was a great cast for the tactiturn Ashitaka. Hell, even Claire Danes did a good job, which is probably a first.
Oh and not to risk sounding like a dumbass or anything, but my old signature is still on my old posts, even though I changed it some time ago. Apparently theres a way to wipe a signature from previously made posts? If not, then how could DarkAshitaka remove his signature from a post that was already made?

Ah ha but somone did read it! Just wanted to say that Hayao Miyazaki (My favorite anime creator/director) was in fact an enviormentalist which is one of the reasons his worlds are so rich in detail and visualy stunning. The aformentioned sceane was based on a real life experiance where he cleaned a river that contained, among other things, a bicycle.

I still don't understand that.
How do bicycles end up in a river? I mean, it's not like every other day some drunken idiot rides his bike straight into a river and drowns now does it? And if you want to get rid of a bike, just park it near a trainstation without a lock. Bye bye bike.
