Joint Projects
I was just wondering how many of you have gone into a joint venture with another editor and how the process went.
I'm having a good friend of mine come up during spring break and we plan on taking on a pretty large project over the week long break.
So I was just wondering what some general recomendations would be as far as should we be using two comps or any other tips and tricks that help make dual editing flow faster.

Well, me and my cusin who is a pretty god AMV editor, do a lot of joint projects, like i'll go over there once every weekend and we work on it. it's worked well i think u get more than u might a single venture because u got two brains working on it, and you can spot mistakes better, and two ideas, are better than one in my opinion, so i like working with another. Good luck with you're friend when u get the video finished lemme know

Forgot to answer you're question lol. I wouldn't bother with two computers, like usually we take turns actually editing the footage, and one sits on the side, and helps direct it. We'll take turns doing that. Ah some suggestions, would be hmm listen to the other really well, because they don't see things the same as you, and he should listen to you well too. Gl bro

Meri and I almost exclusively work together on music videos. There are some other "teams" out there, as well; Nate Bezner & Jeff Heller, Marco & Cristina (turboneko), and many others.
It can be a very rewarding process. I agree... don't try to do it on two computers (unless one person's doing some non-timeline work, say, in After Effects or Photoshop). When you get two people throwing ideas together, you really get to see things you otherwise might have missed. You would think that conflicting ideas may come into play, but from my experience, it hasn't really gotten in the way (although I can't speak for other teams ^^;;).
When we edit, it's kinda strange... sometimes we'll just take turns (while one watches / one edits, other times one of us will just wander off for a while, or talk to cats...), other times we'll both be directly involved in the editing... mostly we're napping or reading manga... I don't understand how we actually accomplish anything... ^^;;
I say go for it... the video(s) may be all the better for it.

Two (or more) views can make a definite diffrence when editing.
For example,
Studio Gaijin (spelled correctly?) Now when I saw the vca's I got a chance to catch a video called "Anger management" and after that I caught a few more of their videos.
They work great together, they just have this... Thing. That comes out so much better when they all work together.
Another example (since you posted) I've seen a few of VegettoEx's videos, and I've seen a few of Meric's. They team up, and all gets combined into something awesome and often times a pretty magical feeling video (Thank you for using something corporate ><;;).
I'd say do it, the benifits far outweigh the consiquences (I've been here for a little while and have yet to see a really bad group video).
Although ><;; one thing that should be noted: you might fight a bit, it's been known to happen to two or more people huddled around 1 pc at a time.

Awesome, thanks for the input thus far. It's definately going to happen, we're still in the process of picking a song (it's down to a handfull) and trying to decide whether to keep with one series or tap multiple series. That should be taken care of by the time spring break gets here.
