Asuka? Don't you mean Kate Rose, or whatever they're considering to rename her too.

No.

1. Animation is an art. Just like paintings, making them real photos is basically unheard of.
2. The media itself separates what can be done within our reality and what cannot (for the most part, there are exceptions).
3. Style (i.e body proportions). Anime in general has it's own style. To make it real would remove this unique feature of anime.

-and-

4. In my opinion, making a Live Action(LA) is just another way to swell that money sponge by sucking every penny out of the fans who even bother watching a LA version.

These are my personal opinions. Thank you for paying any attention ^_x

Hmmm...see that's hard to go by, I mean sure if they could actually pull live action off well, then sure I'd love to see certain titles transformed into Live action, but when people decide to do a bad job or alter the vision of the original that just makes anime look bad in general and upsets all the fans.

Another thing, when people go watch live action first, they may come out with a bad representation of what the anime was originally about. I myself I'm currently watching a live action series right now, but I can only really appreciate it since I'm already a fan of that anime. So, making live action usually means you can only appeal to a certain audience, which let's face it, we're not THAT numerous....and when director's change things to accomodate newer people, well it upsets most of us.

Those I think are the main problems with live action adaptations.

Though I like anime in general for all the things you can do with it...not necessarily the art style (that's more of a manga thing in my opinion) but the variety of stories and crazyness that goes along with it...I mean could ever imagine a LA Excel Saga...it just wouldn't work...

/two cents.

Some arguments against live-action Akira:

*The story from the manga was already pretty sped through for the anime, and people still found it confusing. Knowing how Hollywood works, they'll try to make it easier for audiences to understand...to put it another way:
Why water down lite beer?

*See 'Tetsuo' (...you really have to wonder if they'll keep everyone Japanese)... See 'Tetsuo' make nurse psychically explode...See activists, senators, and soccer moms up Hollywood's collective sphincter faster than a convict named Bubba

*As I was getting at in my last point...how do we know they'd keep the entire thing with Japanese characters...given the track record for anime to live action, I like not the look of this

*Soundtrack...maybe it's just me, but picturing that with anything other than the Geinoh Yamashiro Gumi score from the first adaptation feels wrong on so many levels...

But, that's just my $0.02

There are very few anime that survive a live action remake....

Meteor Garden is the only one I can think of that I actually liked better than the anime (Hana Yori Dango).

Having said that, I would like to see a Live action version of Witch Hunter Robin done with a huge Hollywood budget.

A big no for this one. The anime woudln't be the same if they made it into a live action movie. It just wouldn't be...anime. ^^; It would be too different trying to picture the characters in a more 'real' way, ya know?

Speaking of live action....is it true that the Sci-Fi channel is making a live action Witch Hunter Robin series? There was a thread about this awhile ago, I think, but I don't believe it confirmed the rumor or not. Sorry if it did I just misread. ^^;;
