I honestly hate when they turn animation into live action. What's the point? Honestly... are people that unable to just take in a story unless it has real people playing the roles?

Animation, as a medium, offers so much that is simply unavailable to live action, no matter what you do. When you cross mediums, things are ALWAYS going to be changed. Sometimes the original doesn't suffer the changes, often, however, it does... not to mention that you often have other people trying to tamper with a story that they have no grasp on (and in many cases don't care)

Look at League of Extrodinary Gentleman. An amazingly well done comic turned into a horrendous piece of crap!

I think a Live Action EVA movie will suck in all ways imaginable. First, you only have 2 hours... so trying to get across complexity of the TV series is already lost. EVA is about metaphor and symbolism... and the kinds of symbols and metaphors that work so wonderfully in EVA will fail utterly if you take it as live action.

Turning a book, comic book or play into a movie makes sense to me... (even if this is always a tricky thing to do and often it fails)

but turning an animation into a live action... that makes no sense at all in my mind. You're going from a filmed medium to a different kind of filmed medium.

WHY?

The opposite applies as well. I see no reason to take a live action film and make an animated version of it.

Meteor Garden is the only one I can think of that I actually liked better than the anime (Hana Yori Dango).

Having said that, I would like to see a Live action version of Witch Hunter Robin done with a huge Hollywood budget.
Hana Yori Dango was live-actioned!?  This is the first time I've heard about this!

Some anime/mangas have already been put into live action in America and in Japan.
America: 1) Matrix (a manga turned live action movie)
2) Kill Bill (manga turned live action movie)
Japan: 1) GTO: The Movie (anime & manga turned live action)
2) Iria: The Movie (anime & manga turned live action)
So, I'm kinda iffy on turnin' animes into live action films. They were good, but some of them are just things you don't do (i.e. Sailor Moon, Excel Saga, etc...). Just me though.
I like crazy people . . .

I'd give it a nice-steamy plate of NO!!

I think turning a anime into a live-action for 1) takes away the luster of the anime for instance, different voice. Most of the VA's couldn't act as thier characters for a live-action movie to save thier live. 2)Some anime is soooo out there that it would be extremely difficult to turn it into a live-action movie (Outlaw Star comes to mind for some odd reason).

The only anime that I could see being turned into a live-action and actually be good is: Samurai X: Trust and Betryal and Hellsing.

Well... there's a difference between turning a comic book into a movie (or an animation) then turning an animation into live action.

Animation and film are closer mediums then comic books and live film.

Also...

Kill Bill? I've listened to Tarantino... and he talked about all the films and TV shows that influenced the creation of Kill Bill... but as far as I know there was no one previous Kill Bill title that the movie was based on. I think you're wrong there.

I would like to see more anime turned into live action. It would be funny and sad to see...A roller-coaster ride of emotion! Whew man, I'm just sooooooooo funny.
You're lucky... I've decided to let you live to see the day when I will rule the world.
