The anime changed a lot of things from the manga, apparently. Half of the stuff in the first seven episodes or so is filler compared to the manga. (Not that I don't enjoy it well enough, but it is filler.)
I've only seen the first book, though, so that's all I know. But yeah, many things are different. AFAIK the storyline goes past the anime's run, as well.
That's pretty common, isn't it? *shrugs*

Isn't the manga new to America? Which came first, the anime, or the manga? That makes all the difference. Vash is also very cool, but I to say it because he isn't consistant with it like Spike or Wolfwood. He's just to goofy to be considered as having coolness be his main feature. That's just my opinion, though.

The word(s) I'd put with Vash would be 'free spirited' or 'innocent'. He's cool, but in his own unique way.Cloud Clone wrote:Isn't the manga new to America? Which came first, the anime, or the manga? I agree with you, Kracus, I just don't think that coolness is the key term that defines Vash. Spike is the very definition of coolness as far as anime characters are concerned, because he's cool all the time and not just on the occasions when he's in the middle of an important fight scene or something. Vash is cool, but it's just too inconsistant for me to put him at the top of my 'cool' list. But, he's still about number 4 or so, so it's all good! 8)

Yeah, the manga came first and is slightly different. As in some events are switched around and others didn't happen. (actually, the manga does not continue past the anime)
For instance, the battle with Monev the Gale is much more intense.(well, the manga itself is more graphic than the show)
I have vol #2 (Japanese), and it is the last Trigun manga. Yashiro Naito (Nightow) then moved on to Trigun Maximum. (the last page in vol #2 says "Turn to the Maximum!")Spoilers wrote:In the battle with Monev, since Vash had both hands handcuffed, he ends up ripping his mechanical arm off.(he goes with out a left arm for the rest of the series). Also, to keep himself from blowing up the city(remember no left arm, so no shooting the angel arm away), he rips the gun from inside the angel arm and fires into his legs.
WolfWood fans will be happy to hear that he doesn't die in this Trigun manga.
Also, the hostage ep, the one with the greedy sherif, and Vash walking into the place listening to music, is actually considered a "Bonus Track" and is the last chapter in the Trigun manga.
Trigun Maximum so far has 9 vols. and is still being serialized monthly in Young King Ours.
Either way, I highly recommend the manga, esp. Trigun Maximum.YKO spoilers wrote:Sadly, Wolfwood does die in Maximum. His death is more moving in Maximum than it is in the anime.
