Most disappointing dub

Post by Anime Jedi » Thu Mar 04, 2004 8:00 pm

You know, maybe there was an anime which you thought was perfect and couldn't wait for the dub, but then was totally let down when it finally was translated to your native language.

Or perhaps it was an anime which you thought was pretty cool as a dub, but when you actually saw the original version it got you wondering why they ever changed it.

I have no intentions on starting a rant about any certain anime or company, but I still thought this was a good idea to talk about them.

Dragonball Z. No contest in the slightest.

FUNimation took a completely coherent, sensible, serious, very well made, wonderful show, and turned it into the laughing stock of the nation. It's worthy of pity how terrible they made it.
Look at all my trials and tribulations
Sinking in a gentle pool of wine.
Don't disturb me now, I can see the answers
'Till this evening is this morning, life is fine.

Aura Battler Dunbine...
...OK, so I can't say I was fully disappointed, I was set up for some let down as soon as I'd heard that Carl 'Robotech' Macek was in charge of it...but even so, I would have figured over the years he would have improved some...

Although the Eva dub isn't the worst in existence, it's the most destructive to the source material (DBZ and Yu-Gi-Oh are stupid, don't pretend otherwise).
Ask me about my secret stash of videos that can't be found anywhere anymore.

Since the eva source and sub are still confusing people to this day, sorry but you can't blame the dub for translation and confusion problems.

And your opinion doesn't apply to DBZ. I find Yu-gi-oh stupid as well, but it still counts.
