AMVs with excessive violence

Post by crimsonElegy » Tue Mar 09, 2004 1:32 am

I’ve been doing AMV and general video editing for some time but I’ve just barely registered with animemusicvideos.org and was going to submit a Rurouni Kenshin remix until I read the disclaimer about excessive violence. My AMV includes some violent scenes from the Rurouni Kenshin OVAs mainly from the ******** and when Kenshin’s teacher cuts up the one guy in the beginning of the first OVA.
I don’t want to be kicked out of animemusicvideos.org after submitting my first AMV so I was wondering if any one out there knew if this stuff would be all right.

Kenshin is kosher.

Its popular enough to have people kinda look the other way when it comes to violent content. That rule is ment more for Kite, Mezzo Forte, Angel Cop, things of that nature.

Way to spoil Kenshin btw :!:

So GITS is cool as well, I'm guessing.

Well GITS and Akira are 15 certificate, so the violence cannot be regarded as excessive. Of course, if something is 18 certificate, that may not be due to excessive violence, but if you are going to use clips from sometihng that is 18 certificate, it would have to be scenes that in themselves do not include the sort of stuff that would earn an 18 certificate.

I'm talking about the British certification system, though, America's is rather different. Bizarrely, in the UK Excel Saga is 12 certificate (except for the final DVD, which is 15), while all the Excel Saga DVDs are 17+ in the USA. Sheesh. Can't belive a 16 year old can't buy Excel Saga.

What's an R rating? Equivalent of 15 or 18 or what?

Rated G is the General Audience anyone can get in and watch it

Rated PG means that Parental Guidence is suggested

Rated PG 13 means that Parental Guidence is suggested for people under the age of 13

Rated R means that if a person is under 17 they must have a parent or guardian with them

Rated NC-17 means that No One under 17 (Regardless of Parent/Guardian being there) can get in to see the Movie

Phade explicitly says that the Kenshin OVAs are considered excessive Violence.

Just host it somewhere else other than local, and you'll be fine.
