Music videos that actually tell a story?

Post by Jussumguy2 » Mon Mar 15, 2004 11:02 am

Hey,
I have a question...
Out of most of the videos I've seen on this site if not all the ones I've seen so far...they all seem to show scenes/images from an anime series but in no particular order...its all based on movement and cuts....How come people aren't making more music videos that actually tell a story either from the anime series or make their own up...I think videos are much more powerful when they do that....
What do you think of this? Do you have any opinions?

or the first one...

The third and hopefully the best and most full (the frieza battle) is soon to come

I'll op both of these video and tell you of how much a story they have if you can take a look at these two for me. I'm a person that likes to tell a good emotional story in the videos. Hopefully you have seen Slayers and Ah! My Goddess

The two videos are Fighting For Your Love

Okay these videos don't necessarely tell the story in the anime, but they do tell a story within the video, using the song and the characters.

Time Scars, Love Heals
The story of Kenshin and Kauro, and how their love has helped them survive through all of their hardships.
Coldplay-The Scientist

Transformers - May it Be Enya
Actually this video does tell the story of the anime. It follows the storline in Transformers: The Movie, to Enya's song "May it Be."

Forgotten: Starscream and Skyfire
Linkin Park - Numb

My video tells a story of two characters from the original Transformers TV series, Starscream and Skyfire. Skyfire is holding Starscream back from becoming a great Decepticon warrior, and Starscream does not like that one bit. Friendship or no friendship Starscream will not let Skyfire stand in his way.
This is Starscream's story....

I have one (currently) un-reviewed video that tells a story, if you're up for watching a 23-minute video.

"Flying Motionless Above the Waves"
-Audeo: Pink Floyd - Echoes
-Anime: Prince Tutu, Cowboy Bebop

I'll be checking out your videos shortly.

The song it goes with is 23 minutes long, so instead of cutting the song (edit Floyd - heresy!) I made a mini-movie of sorts with it. It's mainly instrumental and very atmospheric in feel, and most people would probably either love it or hate it, but that's just how it happens to be. I put the time disclaimer on there becuase not everyone has that much time, or wants to sit down to one video for that long, so why trick them into doing so?

And, BTW, I just put up an op on the Mozart one. Many of the same things could be said of the Manson one (I'm comparing Mozart to Manson, wow), good and bad, so instead of having you read the same review twice I just posted the first one. Oh, and in case anyone is wondering, the good definately outweighs the bad in these, especially for early attempts, and these are the most original approach to DBZ I've seen, so don't pre-judge them just on the choice of anime.
