Anime Boston -- Group Dinner?

Post by OtakuForLife » Wed Mar 17, 2004 12:16 pm

I was wondering if there was going to be some type of workshop
dinner thing for AMV creators like at Otakon. I thought that was
one of the best parts of the trip. If not thats cool, just asking
around and see what's up... I'll be their that thursday.

For this to work, there are two main things that need to be determined:

1. Where this dinner would be
2. What time it would be

While I'd have no objections to a Thursday-night AMVer gathering, I'd like to play devil's advocate. We'll all be checking into hotels, picking up badges, preparing for the chaos to come, etc.

Now, there will probably be an AMV Creator Clubhouse in the hour BEFORE the AMV Contest, like there was last year. I propose that any sort of dinner be held AFTER the contest. We'll all be in attendence, it doesn't take much to say "hey, let's all meet in front of the stage after the last video" and move from there. Unfortunately, if you take the Anime Boston Restaurant Guide as gospel, a lot of places close at around 11PM, which means that we wouldn't have much time to eat after walking/subway-ing to the place.

Well, there's always delivery right?
After the AMV contest?... I didn't enter anything becuase
of that wonderful DVD/VHS requirement. I couldn't even burn
an MPEG2 SVD.... Anway, that sounds cool ,but, what will
be open?

Well, if you'd clicked the link I provided, you'd see that... well, not that much is open. Bennigan's is open till 1:30AM, seems to be on the low scale of prices, and looks like a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel. The Hard Rock Cafe is somewhat further away and open till 1AM, and Chang's China Bistro, which is in the area of Bennigan's, is open till Midnight.

Any opinions one way or the other as to restaurant?

I'm for it, and I'd suggest PF Changs. It's good food, not to expensive, and open till midnight, and it's about a 5 minutes walk from the hotel max.

Rule #1, laways disregard most of what Dokool says, as he's perpetually clueless. ;-)

That being said, I'd be up for dinner/lunch/mignight snack/drunken orgy/whatnot.
"If someone feels the need to 'express' himself or herself with a huge graphical 'singature' that has nothing to do with anything, that person should reevaluate his or her reasons for needing said form of expression, possibly with the help of a licensed mental health practitioner."

Wow, man that was kinda mean :)
Probally, just dinner somewhere.... After thinking about the options
a bit. Hard Rock would be neat becuase non-drinking people
could get in and theres a musically sort of ironey involved.
In people who work with audio clips visiting a rock themed
resturant chain. Only problem might be the distance involved
according to the map.
