Dude needs a song suggestion
Howdy;
I need some much appreciated help from you, my appreciated and learned peers...
ok, here's my issue: using the older footage and the new director's cut footage from Evangelion I'm making an AMV to send to the Otakon 2004 AMV competition. I just added a 120gig HD to my comp, I ordered Pinnacle Studio 9 to upgrade my software (who knows if it'll be any better than studio 8, hoping though...), and I have every Eva DVD ripped onto my aforementioned HD. My AMV's theme is gonna be an exploration of both the overt and subtle sexuality of the series (the IN YOUR FACE Misato and Kaji/Asuka and Shinji relationships as well as the implied relationship between Shinji and Rei, the relationships between Gendo/Ritsuko and Gendo/Ritsuko's mother, Kaji and Asuka..etc...)
BUT....no strong song as of yet. I'm thinking maybe Clocks ala Cold Play or Figured You Out from Nickelback but I'm not committed to either. Any suggestions would be so greatly appreciated, if I had any cash money left over from the overhaul of my comp I would give it to you...but I'm broke so I can only offer a wide grin and a "Thanks".
...and maybe a credit on the vid as a "creative consultant". Hows about that?
...
Oh yes, I think I did a thread a month ago about if EVA AMV's are dead or not, so if this post seems eerily familiar that's probably why.

perhaps "Are You Experienced?" by Jimi Hendrix - very sexual in a (barely) implicit way.
if you want explicit, there's always Prince, but I'm not sure how well a, for example, EVA/Purple Rain combination would fit or go over here.
and if you want angry and sexual, about half of Pretty Hate Machine (the first Nine Inch Nails album) would fit what you're looking for.

The world needs more 80s synthpop AMVs (esp. New Order, Depeche Mode, and Erasure).
....word. After I finish this video I was gonna do a 80's glam rock tribute to old school anime (ala BGC, old Macross, Kimagure, etc...), but I have now decided that I MUST do this video, with Depeche Mode. Beautiful.

"Oh... it seemed forever stopped today ,
All the lonely hearts in London caught a plane and flew away
And all the best women are married... all the handsome men are gay
You feel deprived...
Yeah... are you questioning your size?
Is there a tumour in your humour, are there bags under your eyes?
Do you leave dents where you sit, are you getting on a bit?
Will you survive...
You must survive!
When there's no love in town,
this new century keeps bringing you down.
All the places you have been,
trying to find a love supreme...
A love supreme...
Oh... what are you really looking for?
Another partner in your life, to abuse and to adore?
Is it lovey dovey stuff, do you need a bit of rough?
Get on your knees...
Yeah... turn down the love songs that you hear,
'Cause you can't avoid the sentiment that echoes in your ear
Saying love will stop the pain, saying love will kill the fear
Do you believe...
You must believe!
When there's no love in town,
this new century keeps bringing you down
All the places you have been,
trying to find a love supreme...
A love supreme...
I spy with my little eye
Something beginning with (ah)
Got my back up
And now she's screaming
So I've got to turn the track up
Sit back and watch the royalties stack up
I know this girl she likes to switch teams
And I'm a fiend but I'm living for a love supreme
When there's no love in town,
this new century keeps bringing you down
All the places you have been,
trying to find a love supreme...
A love supreme...
Come and live a love supreme...
Don't let it get you down...
Everybody lives for love..."
Repeat...

of course, it helps if you give the name the song along with its lyrics. not that i don't often leave out important details like that myself.
here's a suggestion that might work on the "Gendo/Ritsuko and Gendo/Ritsuko's mother" plane of thought:
Simon and Garfunkle - Mrs. Robinson
it requires some knowledge of The Graduate to make sense (as the lyrics themselves are hardly explicit), but it could be funny as all hell, and appears to have been well-enough known an allusion to be used (along with a pair of lines from The Graduate) in American Pie (and, in the context of breaking up a wedding - another Graduate reference, Wayne's World). if popular teen movies can get away with a reference to a past-generation film without losing their audience, i have to imagine that we could as well.
