Post by Souijro » Sun Mar 21, 2004 5:28 pm

Yeah,

anyway what settings do you need on your basic computer to download then show a MV? does it require a floppy or hard as they are sometimes called disk? please answer as soon as possible.

And if I does require a disk how much memory?

MPGs SHOULD just plain work, but you would likely need to download and install either the DivX or XviD codecs for AVI files.

your player should be fine, just download the stuff Chaos Angel suggested and you'll be okey-dokay!

For mpg, xvid, divx - you can watch those in Windows Media Player so long as you have the codecs. You can download the codecs for xvid and divx (avi files) for free by doing a google search, or you can get a set of codecs if you pick up the Gordia Knot Codec Pack - off www.doom9.org in the 'Downloads' section.

For other vids like wmv, you can usually watch those in windows media player as well. Rm files only play in RealPlayer, Qt files in Quicktime player, mpeg2 files in either BSPlayer or Winamp 1.86 (very hard to find, I'd avoid these files if you see them).

Windows media player comes on most any windows computer. As for memory needed - xvid files can take quite a bit of processing speed to play properly. If you have a small computer you might want to stick to wmv and mpg vids. Some people crank up the settings on their xvid files to get the best quality and those can be near impossible to watch without skips and jerky errors on a slow computer.

To download local vids you'll need to be a member for 2 weeks (unless you donate). Other vids - direct and indirect - you can get immediately by using the 'super search' on the member main page. You can also find vids via the 'top 10% videos' and 'top star scale' lists (though the star scale vids are local, so you may have to wait before you can get those).

And for future reference, this should have gone in the 'Site Help' section or 'Video Software Help' sections depending on what you're asking about (downloading = site help, playback programs = software help, computer memory = hardware help). ^.~

Sure, you can download vids to a disc, if it's something like a zip disc that has enough space to hold an amv. You can also burn them to cd, but it's better to download to your harddrive first, then burn them. I don't know if it's different with dvd burners.
