southpark anime style

That was a good episode and it was obvious that the creators' main point was how silly and stupid the whole Janet Jackson ordeal was. Also, Southpark isn't the only one who uses anime style scenes. A lot of the Cartoon network flagship cartoons (Dexter's Lab, Samauri Jack, Powerpuff) uses the anime styles extensivley.

kinda, but in samurai jack and powerpuff girls (and the dreaded teen titans), the 'anime' style is embedded into the show's regular programming

so it's worth mentioning when Southpark, a show that doesn't normally use 'anime' style, actually does it in an episode or two

dunno about dexter's laboratory, i think there are Speed Racer type stuff, but i'm only saying that because of that Right Now Someone Is Reading This Title AMV, otherwise i don't know

but don't start saying that US always tries to copy the oh-so-superior Japanese animation style, because japanese animation is largely influenced off of old US cartoons and some shows, like The Big-O rip off of Batman's animation, so we all influence each other, it's not a one-way road

I find it amusing that all three of the series you just mentioned were created and directed by Genndy Tartakovsky.

Though honestly, I never really considered his style anime-esque.

I might have been able to argue that this newest southpark wasn't spoofing anime. I could have said it was spoofing TMNT or ninja films. However, I had to throw that possibility out the window after the clip-show-after-commercial-break sequence, the dramatic dialogue sequences with motion lines in the BG, or the fact that Stan was a complete ripoff of Ryu from SF. The cherry on top had to be the ninja song. When the ninja theme song came up, I almost crapped myself, and when I saw the subtitled engrish lyrics, I almost died. One stretch of the song literally went:

(sakura takamoto) Protect my Balls!
(more random japanese) SO LETS FIGHTING!
LETS FIGHTING LOVE!
