It's not a matter of first half versus second half, it's a matter of second quarter versus the other 3/4.Scintilla wrote:Huh? I personally thought there was a good deal of philosophy/psychology, emotion, and character development (as well as plot twists) all through the second half...
I mean, all that stuff is not completely absent in the first half, but the action and comedy seem to dominate. Kinda like Trigun.
I've seen the first 4 eps of Rah Xephon, and I couldn't go 6 minutues without thinking "OMFG they SO ripped off Eva right there! OMG they did it again!"Rhyevaln wrote:Anyone who says that hasn't seen one or the other. They are so different it's not even funny.TheDarknessFlame wrote:...personally I liked RahXephon better even though anyone you ask will start whinning about how its an "eva ripoff"
Although there was that one scene that ripped off The Matrix as much as Eva... you know, the one where Misato-clone became Trinity-clone and fought the Agent-clones in the subway? Yeah...
Ask me about my secret stash of videos that can't be found anywhere anymore.

hello am a noob. I recently got into neon genesis evangelion . I have been missing out on this great anime until recently I decided to purchase the Box set. All I can say it IS the best anime that I have seen . The depth of the story and plot is what made this anime the best. As far as the "skin showing"is not as much as other anime movies.

It put me into a depression for a while, it was that much of a psychological mindfuck.
I haven't seen RahXephon yet, but I try to keep an open mind when watching something for the first time after people tell me stuff. A good example is Ninja Ressurection. Many people hated it with a passion and then there's those who love it. I talked to people who said it sucked, I bought it anyway and it was sweet, most violent anime I've ever seen. There are some other series I want to see, but thanks to no job and my car, I can't buy anime, so I borrow it, and tehre is a limited supply of anime at school, I've seen just about all of it.

Depression is a major theme in Evangelion, maybe the centeral theme. I have heard that the creator was deeply depressed when he wrote it and I wouldn't be suppried if this were the case. I suspect that most people who are depressed (like I was back when I saw it 4 or 5 years ago) will relate very strongly to the show.BrsrkEva wrote:It put me into a depression for a while, it was that much of a psychological mindfuck.

Last time I saw the ending (a week ago or so), I actually felt happy and felt better than usual for the rest of the day
Actually, even the first time I saw it - for some reason, the TV ending felt sort of depressing, but by the end of EoE I was feeling positive also... weird, perhaps, but that's the way I saw it

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Crazy?
That's a given

Well, to be honest, I guess Eva made me feel good rather than depressed because I was kind of in agreement with many of the messages on individual philosophy that the last two eps try to get through. I agreed with many of the things Anno's forcibly pushing through before I ever saw the eps, so eh...
