Don't ever, EVER, insult ErMaC's guides! But seriously, all the guids at VCDHelp suck in my opinion, and the ones at the nickyguides site suck. ErMaC's method is the easiest in my opinion, but it takes time if you have a slow PC like I do. Oh yes, and the ONLY problem I had with ErMaC's method was that I had used a newer version of DVD2AVI (Which won't work with ErMaC's method..), and it wouldn't read the d2v files in the AVS scripts correctly.Stryker wrote:Not trying offend anyone , but Ermac’s guide is like Chinese food…twenty minutes later you’re scratching your head and wishing you had more to chew on. If you want some better guides to work with, then I suggest that you go to either of these places:
http://nickyguides.digital-digest.com/index.htm
(my personal recommendation)
http://www.vcdhelp.com/
(another site filled to the brim with good info)
and as for the handling newbies posting in the wrong forums, yes it’s annoying ,but it happens…so until it drives me mad...

"God of making things coherent"? Oh dear.
I'll say that I can usually explain very things in ways that people can eventually understand but often times I try to do too much and explain things that people don't need. I just have this personal philosophy that I should explain the WHY instead of the how. I.e. instead of just saying that MJPEG sucks compareed to DV I want to explain how they both work and why one is better than the other so that people can understand the reasoning behind any recommendations I give.
Unfortunately this can just confused some people and so in the new guide we're going to try to have some brief summaries of important points for those too impatient to reac the whole thing. It's not something I relish doing but hopefully it will make the guide more accessible.

As I said before i even started my previous post, I'm not trying to offend anyone. I was mearly stating how it was for me. And speed has nothing to do with what i use. Oh well.NicholasDWolfwood wrote: Don't ever, EVER, insult ErMaC's guides! But seriously, all the guids at VCDHelp suck in my opinion, and the ones at the nickyguides site suck. It's all in the eye of the beholder...nahhh, it's all in the eyes of the creator.

If your still trying to figure it out, try this. Go to doom9.net and in the Downloads section get Dvd Decrypter and Xmpeg. Use Dvd Decrypter to rip the Dvds and Xmpeg to encode them to avi or use a plug-in for mpeg. Hope that is of any use.
Also, on the behalf of the "newbies", if you don't like "newbies" or don't want to help them, simply don't reply. And always remember that at one point in time, you were one too.

Did you even read what I said? I said ErMaC's way is the ONLY WAY TO GET PERFECT QUALITY! If you use ErMaC's way and then you encode the final video to MPEG and burn it to a DVD, you would NOT notice any quality difference between the DVD you burnt that has the video on it and the DVD(s) that have the anime you used on them.
