Hiya!
It has been a year or so since I last did anything AMV related, so I am a little bit out of action, although I never was a very pro at all the video & format stuff. Anyhow...
I will do a AMV for an application at College with Now & Then, Here & There footage.
So after digging thru EADFAG they suppose like ripping the NTSC video from the disc, and then converting it to 29.97 (?) fps for optimal export and editing pleasures.
But the only way I can send in the video is on a VHS tape (PAL).
So my questions is, did any of you already rip NTHT and had any problems (like I had issues with ripping Evangelion and getting the frames right)?
And secondly, do I have to go thru all that converting to 29.97 (?) forth and back, if the only thing I ever want is a PAL video? And what would be the best way to convert the NTSC from the disc so I can simply edit them in Premiere and then export eventually onto a nice format for the PAL VHS (MPEG I suppose)?
Any help would be very appreciated.
Peace out,
~Aetherfukz

If it's NTSC footage then you don't have to convert to 29.97fps - it will already be that.
Converting to PAL should be done before you edit. Ideally you should IVTC your NTSC footage with avisynth (see guides) and then add assumefps(25) to your avisynth script.
Then in your script resize the footage to 720x578. You can use this avisynth to make clips with or edit directly in premeire.
With this kind of script you can edit in PAL mode, 25fps, 720x576 and export in either PAL DV to then transfer to tape or export lossless avi to then convert to PAL mpeg2 to then go to tape.
