First, its Van Helsing.

Second, Van Helsing was the man responsible for killing Dracula. The anime Hellsing is somewhat based off the story of Dracula. Intrega Hellsing's ancestor is suppose to be Van Helsing. In short, Van Helsing has nothing to do with the anime Hellsing. Also this topic has been over done. A simple search would have resulted in the other topic which had more info.

It is a ripoff, american filmakers just want to make movies that are good and the only way they can do that is to rip off anime, because anime is better than most live-action action movies. Except for Monty Python.

I don't think Van Hellsing is meant to be a rip off of the anime. It's basically keeping the trend of the recent comic book live action movies that they've been making, that's how I see the movie. I don't expect anything from anime Hellsing to be integral to the plot.

I have read Dracula (admittedly, the Great Illustrated Classic version), but that doesn't mean I remember all the non-title characters' names...
