From my experience, Deinterlacing after you output from primeire works IF you didn;t do any field overlaping or effect edits in preimiere. If you did sometimes it doesn;t deinterlace properly. The smart deinterlacer for virtual dub however does a good job of removing most artifacts after the output from primiere without much quality loss, since it only processes areas that are interlaced in the picture. I don't think it comes with virtualdub, but you can find it on a link from virtualdub's website. http://www.virtualdub.org.
