There are no scary animes. There are some horror oriented animes like Boogiepop Phantom, but they are few and far between.
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

no anime is actualy scary. due to the style and limitations put on by the logic of perception, it would be almost imposible to make anime thats actualy scary.

I read somewhere (RollingStone) that you can pay these ppl to kidnap you and do horrible things to you. That might work.

Yes, anything animated can be scary, they just arent. Go watch Watership Down. There's one part that will utterly fuck your mind. It's not anime, but it's a cartoon and in parts it's utterly surreal.

Another reccomendation, Kousetsu Hyaku Monogatar aka 100 stories. It's the lowest budget anime I've seen. It'll probably never get licenced, but as scary animes go it's probably the best.

Cat's right on the ball with 100 Stories (I'd love to know how much that cost if anyone happens to know) still very stylised and scary.
And yes, definitely see Watership Down if you hadn't. What on earth was my mother thinking when she let me watch that when I was a kid... Maybe it's one of those character-building experiences or something that everyone should be exposed to. Same went for The Wall.

And the sexual orientation in 7th grade. Horrible stuff that was.
