Naruto Video Files won't show in Vegas 4.
I am now using Vegas 4, but the thing is, I download the Naruto episodes from bittorent (Naruto has yet to be liscensed so technicly that is not illegal).
The groups I have recieved the episodes from are Anone&ANBU and Bakasan. But when I imported them into Vegas I cannot see anything in the mini screen on the right corner and I am unable to drag it into the timeline. I'm currently reading the Vegas 4 manual, but I still do not understand the problem.
Away from that I also have some general Vegas 4 questions. They will probably be answered in the manual but I might as well ask here, now.
Like in Premeiere, how can you adjust the screen to cut out certain parts like sub titles? And how do I adjust the pixels of my Final Work to what i want the screen size to be?

You could be a little less brusque in describing the way you broke the "downloadable anime" forum rules..
Anyways, I have no experience working with Vegas, but I can provide some advice which may be prevalent in general editing.. Don't edit with videos encoded using interframe codecs, such as XviD and DivX. Convert them with an intraframe codec such as Huffyuv, for an easier time editing. Hopefully, someone who's a Vega expert can come along and offer some real help..
Btw, your sig pic's too big vertically. The maximum size it can be is 40 pixels high.

And while you're converting your files to huffyuv (preferably with VirtualDub) - you can clip out or cover subtitles in Vdub as well. To cut them, just use the crop filter (null transform and then 'crop') - or you can place black rectangles over the subs and make it into some letterbox or widescreen format (using the logo filter and tga files of the right dimensions). You don't have to do that sort of footage clean-up in your editor - VirtualDub works just fine.

Huffyuv comes in the 'Gordian Knot Codec' pack if you want to cover all your bases in one download (you can get it from www.doom9.org in the 'Downloads' section). You can also get VirtualDub from the downloads section at that same website (doom9.org)._Shinji_ wrote:Thank you for your suggestions. But may I ask, where can I get Huffyuv and how do I convert with it?
To convert, open your file in Vdub, select the compressor (video, compression, huffyuv) and check the 'fast recompress' button so it's quick. If you want to edit the footage while you're in there (crop out subtitles or cover them up) then select the appropriate filters (video, filters) and don't check that fast recompress button (it only works if you're not applying any filters - it just speeds up the conversion for you).

To crop in Vegas, right-click the clip and select Video Event Pan/Crop. This will bring up a new window that allows you to move the viewpoint left, right, in or out. It also allows garbage matte-ing, as well as keyframing of viewpoint; e.g. if you want to zoom in and pan across a clip as it plays.
Anyway, that's a very important tool in Vegas and it's worth taking time to become used to how it works and with what it can do.
More info in the help menus: Help-Index, "Panning and Cropping Video Events".
