So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

Since everyone else is deciding to give you snide non-answeres or bullcrap about the Top10 list, here are some who I consider the best.

Fluxmeister

Kusoyaro

jbone

Joe Croasdaile

Taskmasta

Beowulf

Lord Rae

Tash

Absolute Destiny

Carlos Corral

Doughboy

Xianpower

William Millberry

I know you also asked for oldschool greats. If you are looking into that specifically check out Kusoyaro, Lord Rae, Xainpower, Bill Millberry and Joe Croasdaile

"Snide bullcrap" means that we didn't list off all our friends. :? I mean Wonka's friends.
Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

Damn youngsters.

Apparently AMV's have now been around long enough to have multiple tiers of "oldschool." You want to find the _real_ oldschool stars, why don't you ask the people listed above for their "oldschool" list. You'd start hearing about the originating masters. The 2-VCR crowds. The people like Jingoro, C-ko Kotobushi, Matt Murray, Anna Exeter, EK, Mark Hariston, Duane Johnston, Brad DeMoss, and the incomparable Jeff Tatarek (stop being so modest, Richlather!) (Yeah, those are a bit mixed in the timelines....)

People who were making these before there were contests. People who inspired those who inspired the ones on your list.

(Not trying to start a fight here. Not saying the ones on my list need to be enshrined......... but props man, props.)

I've been thinking about it, and though there is a number of editors whose work I look out for, I myself have concluded that it's best to look at videos individually, and not by editor. Being a great editor doesn't preclude one from producing crap, nor guarantees success every time.

But wait, why am I here?

Oh. Remember not to fetishize the inherent and delineated meanings of music videos.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

I don't think it's snide - my definition of 'best' means the greatest of the editors I've seen - the ones everyone agrees are perfect - my top 3 being AD, Flux, and Koop, so linking to the vcas makes that blatantly obvious and is simple and to the point. He didn't ask who my favorite editors were, he asked who I thought were best - I think the best editors are the ones who best serve their fans - meaning the best according to majority opinion. Where's the snide non-answer in that?

If he decides he wants my favorites, I'll name them, but he didn't ask for that. The best editors are not my favorites, and I don't consider my favorite editors the 'best' on the site. I answered the question according to my opinion on what 'best' means.
