If he decides he wants my favorites, I'll name them, but he didn't ask for that. The best editors are not my favorites, and I don't consider my favorite editors the 'best' on the site. I answered the question according to my opinion on what 'best' means.

But there really is no "best editor." It's all relative and based on a person's opinion.

Even if you linked to something that a bunch of people voted on, that doesn't mean they're the best. It means they're the "best" to those people. There's no such thing and thus the person's question is meaningless.

As you stated, we could easily post who we think are the best, but there is no absolute answer to this regardless of number of votes or a contest.

But that's my definition of 'best,' you see? I think those editors are the best *because* so many people give them that title. To me, that's what 'best' means - majority opinion. So there *is* an answer, and you're on there dw, so don't be modest. ;p

The best on this site are the ones the viewers *of* this site think are best. Individuals may have different 'favorites' but that doesn't change the mass decision on the matter.

Besides, if he wanted our favorites, he'd just look at the 'top favorite videos'. Which is the exact same thing. ^_^; When you're going by an opinion-based decision like 'favorite' or 'best,' then the final names come from the ones the most people place as 'best' or 'favorite.' That's the great thing about voting and having a choice - it doesn't come down to what a single person thinks, it's all about the collective decision.

Less stress on the individuals. ^_^

The best editor... I dunno to me thats the one most devoted to the "art".

It doesnt matter if they're new, old, or ancient. If they're devoted they're one of the best, because at one point if you're devoted enough you'll make something awesome.

I guess I can agree in that that's your definition, but I have a different one which is well...obviously ambiguous and not-so-concrete since I don't think there is a "best." It basically allows me to cop-out of these decisions

No, by snide I mean everyone linking to the Top10 without any other comments. By snide I mean writing some pseudo humorous mock code to try and belittle this persons request for an honest list of who you feel are some of the best and brightest. By snide I mean the generally dismissive tone I see in this and most other threads on this forum.

If I have listed friends, it is because I am friends with some of the people who I think are the best. Or do you think I'm doing them a great service by pimping them in this all important thread without deserving it? Or would you have honestly wanted me to not put what I felt was best simply because I am friends with them, or we have spoken before at cons, or they post on a forum that I post on.

If people's snippy attitude has become so status quo that nobody even sees it any more, well then my apologies, I was not aware of it being the norm.
