i had no idea that the leagel age was 13 in japan

.... i always though the japanese were... mmm had more morals than that.... like they waited till they were married and junk, but as you said its all shady and behind there parents backs so they can buy all there stuff....

but still thats pretty sad that japan has the leagel age that low

I know that in some parts of the U.S. Girls can get married at a very young age. Doesn't this amount to essentially the same thing?

Mind, you I'm don't agree with it since I have a hard time imagining that anyone that age knows what they are dong beyond experimentation. Similarities in age are the biggest factor I think. That an adult would take advantage of a younger person (I can't see it any other way) is reprehensible.

I suppose that the low age of consent would conform more to the traditional arranged mariage system. Or perhaps it is a nod to the reality that teenagers are going to be doing what they do anyway. The only real advantage our system has is that it 'sort of' protects minors from predatory adults, wheras the system there has them using it as form of manipulation.

Want to talk about age gaps? Just picture a 4 foot tall 20 yr old and a 7 foot tall 400+ yr old. The only saving grace is that they're demons - and demons don't have to play by the rules. 8)

A couple of quick points:

Romeo and Juliet were supposed to have been 13 or 14. And it wasn't a bad idea back then either, considering the average life expectancy was, what, 35?

The Japanese 13 year-old age of consent was (from what I've heard) US enforced, applied, etc. I'm not sure in what way, but the US had something to do with it.

I believe because they weren't planning to have any age consent level at all. So they figured 13 was at least better than...4 months?
