Can you buyFLCL anywhere?

Post by AaronHill » Sun Apr 25, 2004 5:42 pm

I've been videotaping it off of cartoon network which is cool, but I would like to own it on DVD or something like that. How hard is it to find? I go to a lot of comicbook stores, but I never see it there. Any advice?

Hm. Online?

It's quite widely available. Somewhat expensive (it's on 3 DVD's), but I see it at cons and even stores all the time.

What they show on CN is that not the whole thing? Your saying it's 3 DVD's...so that has to be longer then what they've shown. Not to mention what does FLCL stand for? Hahahahahahahahaha...I'm so out of the loop, comics and music is my bag.

1) Well, it shouldn't be longer. However, the DVD's do have good commentary by the creators to help explain some of the things in there, and, not to mention, better video and audio quality than you get on CN. Otherwise - it's still 6 episodes, 2 on each DVD.

2) FLCL stands for... nothing whatsoever.
The translators insist it's 'Fooly Cooly'; but I don't believe them

No it's not longer, they only put two eps per disk.

I got mine at deepdiscount btw.

It's Foory Coory in Japan, you know, the whole L/R thing. But ya, FLCL isn't actully a series, it is 6 OVA episodes, and yeah, everyone knows what an OVA is I hope :).

"Fooly Cooly"...that's pretty daft if you ask me. Thanks for the low down I really want to find that, Two eps to a disk is kinda dumb, but I still gotta have it.

OVA...isn't that a Govenment agency that keeps the world from finding out that Carson Daly is really a killer robot from Planet 19?

OVA - Original Video Animation. The US equivalent of 'straight to video', except with higher production values relatively.

FLCL = Furi Kuri (that's the actual transliteration of the kana) = Fooly Cooly (American translation). There are a couple scenes within the show where they discuss what 'furi kuri' actually means and go through a few dozen puns, but I imagine that kinda stuff is lost in the dub.

It may be kind of a rip (the whole 2 eps/volume/3 volumes thing), but FLCL is one of the best series you'll ever pay for. Good luck finding the Volume 3 w/ the box, I've seen it go for some obscenely high prices on eBay...
